Too early to compare Shock Cardio and Insanity??

For those of you who have received and done a few shock cardio workouts and have also done Insanity, how do they compare/differ??

I pre-ordered, but still haven't received my SC yet. I've done Insanity and love the workouts. And I was hoping to get some opinions on the two for those who have both programs.

Thanks!

Erin,

I am not sure they can be compared. The concept for the two series' are completely different. It would be like trying to compare CLX, STS, and P90X. Not all of the Shock Cardio workouts are supposed to be as intense as Insanity. For intensity, I think at this point, Insanity is in a class by itself (good or bad).

I did several of the Insanity workouts and realized they weren't for me. I just don't want to work that hard for that long. However, for those who like intensity and pushing their limits (A-Jock and Sancho, I'm looking at you!), Insanity is awesome and they might be disappointed in the intensity of Shock Cardio...at least all but the HiiT workouts. I personally really like the looks of the HiiT workouts. They look extremely tough but doable.

Let us know what you think when you get and do Shock Cardio.

Carrie,

Thanks for your reply.

Although I loved Insanity, you're right, working that hard for that long is difficult. I only did the first month and quickly burned out. Now I've taken an unscheduled 'rest period' from working out because Insanity was so . . . . . . . INSANE!! My body just couldn't take it. And it's so sad because in that one month, I saw alot of changes in my body. But what good is a workout if it ends up hurting in the long run? I'll still use Insanity, but just not everyday as I was doing.

So that's good to know - I'm really looking forward to getting back with Cathe! Just waching the clips has me excited to workout again. Can't wait to try them!!

Erin,

My co-worker is completing the Insanity rotation as designed and found the same thing. A couple weeks from the end, her heel really started to hurt. Thankfully, we had all taken up wearing slippers at the office:D!

She did say she was noticing herself getting "leaner" and able to see the definition she works so hard on so it does work. Maybe it would just be better to add one or two workouts in a week as opposed to doing the rotation as designed. Of course, in the infomercial it does say it is for ADVANCED athletes:eek:!

Thanks for asking, I was wondering as well. I am still waffling on Insanity. Don't know I can keep up for that long. Hmmmm.....still need to ponder. If Santa bring GS as he is supposed to and I don't have to buy it, then maybe I'll spring for Insanity. So many choices. I have all my Shock Cardio to play with as well

i also hurt my heel at the end of the first month. it doesnt bother me anymore so i'm considering doing an undulated insanity rotation by mixing up the 2 months. since week 2 is harder i think it will be better to mix the 2 months

I think I'm on week 3

I am doing an Insanity rotation of some kind:p It consists of me trying to get week 1 done but for some reason I end up with just 3 workouts. So I try again the next week, and so far my greatest effort resulted in 4 workouts in one week.

So I suppose I'm week 3 on week 1... and not even! But that's ok because my body isn't about to let me do anything it doesn't want to. But in three weeks I did lose an inch around my waist and last night when I was doing Plyo Circuit and I could swear the love handles looked like they were visible shrinking!

It looked and felt like my sides were getting ironed flat. Weird huh? Maybe the workout was making me hallucinate?

I have to say though that this series is unbelievably difficult. I spend a lot of time on the carpet and it amazes me when I finish. While doing it, finishing it is never a sure thing.

I've noticed improvement though this week. The warm up isn't that impossible now and I can do ski abs better. I hate burpees with push ups!
And I can do anything that involves jumps but start to wheeze with mountain climbers.

WTF are mummy kicks anyway???

I like owning this series because there isn't anything out there like it. Plus for some strange reason, even though you think they're nuts you still manage to complete the workout once you start it. Though not in 40 minutes...lol. And not with 30 second recovery periods.

Most people say they were riding endorphins all day after the workout. I find I am generally in a very easygoing non reactive state for the rest of the day, because I realize nothing nastier could possibly happen to me to top off that
workout. So it's all good.

I'm waiting for Hiit to arrive because I know Cathe will be tough but she'll be SANE. ;)

I'm taking a wee break from Insanity workouts (and running) because of my ITBS, but when I did it, I loved it! I didn't follow the rotation, I just did the workout when I couldn't run for whatever reason. So much fun! I didn't find it over the top challenging, like I couldn't do it, and I was amazed that I could do the plyo without pain or injury (the ITBS is from running). I haven't received SC yet, and I'm not sure how I'll work with that - I may not do anything from it for a while, as I really am not into cardio that incorporates step work.

I will be interested

I wrapped and then opened the Shock cardio dvds for Christmas (my sons get worried if I don't open SOMETHING, worried I may be naughty and not nice :D) but haven't done any yet...got burned out playing out in the snow with my hubby and two sons (lotsa fun, stuck here anyway since the 23rd) I have been doing Insanity (the 2nd month) 2 times per week as more than that is just too much, these could balance things out well...time will tell!
