To SNM: Must I have WMP 6.4 to tune in to Cathe?

I have an iMac. I downloaded the 6.3 for the Mac.
It give two "connection filed" messages followed by "invalid url". I can't use 6.4 on my computer. It's an exec. file. I have tried to connect manually, but to no avail. Any suggestions? I am dying to see the new stuff!

6.3 works for me

I was able to connect with my G4 using WMP 6.3. I don't think 6.4 is available for the Mac.

Those error messages are the same thing I get if I click on the CatheTV photo on the CatheTV page. On a Mac you need to connect manually -- highlight the URL listed below the picture of CatheTV, choose "Copy" from the Edit menu, then open WMP, select "Open Location" from the File menu, choose "Paste" from the Edit menu to paste the URL in there and hit the return key to connect. It will take a minute or two to connect. That worked for me. Hope this helps!

Macs and Cathe TV

Hi! I, too, have had success connecting manually with WMP6.3 on my G3. Excellent directions, Lynne! I use Netscape (but I don't think it matters when you connect manually) and I'm running Mac OS 9. The nice thing about WMP is that it saves all your previous URL's, kind of like a favorites or bookmarks list. Make certain you're choosing the "Open Location" selection, and not the "Open File" one. Re: exec. files, these are generally all Windows-type files, and not meant for Macs. Look for a bin-hex or Mac binary file to identify a Mac compatible file. Good luck, I'm sure the SNM crew will help you further if you need it. They've always been very knowledgeable and ready to lend a hand, no matter what type of computer or set up you have. (Thanks from all us Mac users on that one!) Of course they may be just a tad busy now, with all the new videos, but be patient!

What are your settings under the edit menu under preferences? I believe the Mac uses TCP/IP and I am not sure what the settings should be?

We just moved Cathe TV to our new server. To connect please do the folloowing:
To manually connect, once you have Windows Media Player open, click "File" then click "Open URL". In the dialog box, type "http://64.225.138.193/CatheTV01" and then hit enter. You should see it start buffering and then play the video.

Settings under preferences are:
Select proper connection speed
Protocols UDP,TCP and HTTP are all checked

If you are behind a firewall make sure proxy is checked and the appropriate firewall settings are filled in.
