To pixie9, punka274, and anyone else....

Beavs

Cathlete
To two really cool chicks I know (well, at least through the forums) and to anyone else who has been the recipient undeserved crappy remarks, there is a little book I break out every so often to remind myself of what is important in life. It's called the Four Agreements by Do Miguel Ruiz. I don't even remember how I found it.

One of the most important parts for me has been his reminder not to take anything personally, that nothing others do is because of us. As he says "what others do and say is a projection of their own reality....When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering." This is of course easier said than done but they are certainly words to live by for strong beautiful women.

Just wanted to tell Beavs that she is quite wise! As a friend once told me...be a duck, let everything roll of your back!

:)

Happy Days!

You're exactly right, Beavs. Yep, it's hard to live by, but it's true. Every once in a while I actually succeed at it and feel much better.

Great quote, Beavs!

I also try to remember what my mom always said (though she was talking about bugs or spiders): "They're more scared of you than you are of them." Often true of people, too. Sometimes I get self-conscious about what people think I look like or something when really they are either not thinking of me at all or maybe they are too busy being concerned what I think of them.

Hope that makes sense.

Awesome quote Beavs. I think I'll check the book out. I'll let Carolyn know to look for this thread next time I talk to her, because I think she still has company and I don't know if she'll look at the forums anytime soon.

Wow, I'm glad I checked the forums today! :) Thank you for the wonderful quote Beavs. I actually wrote it down so I wouldn't forget it.
As a side note, we went to Trier today, Beavs. I know how much you love historical stuff and you would have LOVED it! :)

Wow, I loved that quote also. I'm so glad I saw this; I wrote it down so I could see it often. Such good advice, but like you said is so much easier said than done. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm going on a work related retreat and decided to bring my copy along. I have not read it in so long. I hope you all enjoy it.
