tneah or anyone - lifting lighter?

Cynthia Question (Fit 44)

I've been working my lower body with lighter weights and increased the frequency of training to 5-6 days a week. I've been getting great results. My quads are popping out, and I've noticed I'm finally getting the skin to lift at my knees.
My body responds to this type of workout and I've decided I'm going to stick with it until STS comes along. I re-evaluate and go from there.

Well ya got my attention with knee sag thing! :D AND My name could be "Fit Almost 46"....so I feel bonded to ya! :D;)

Would you mind posting the specific type/names of DVDs you are using for legs (IF you use DVDs...) (maybe a sample week)

I know that leg work like SlimSeries & P90x work well for me but I get totally bored doing those all the time. Is it just a matter of doing Cathe DVDs but not using weights? They are certainly high enough in reps! LOL - I'm not a Kettle gal but have all other equipment & all DVDs.... THANKS!!!

Traci,

It's called Freestyle training and you can find a lot of information without buying the books here.
This link will provide you with an idea of how to put together a freestyle rotation using Firm or Cathe's dvd's

Reps, sets, and how much lower body work depends on your fitness level.

I've created my own routines using the Freestyle training book..

There is also a book called The Lower Body Solution. That book is out of print, but you can find a few on Amazon.
I've used Jari Love's Ripped series for few months.

As you can see, Kathrynfitness creates her own circuits using Cathe. I've also found some of Cathe's rotations that can be used with some fine tuning....

It's basically training the lower body like a dancer or gymnist. Key to it, is not overtraining. Use low weights, and take recovery weeks etc.

Thanks Cynthia....I have most of the resources for Freestyle you listed but have just never been able to figure out the best way to utilize the Cathe / Tony DVDs I have... I am not one to stick with a non-DVD program except for upper work. I think its because I dont like working legs  so I need the DVD motivation.... I'll re-read the stuff I have & see what the basic pattern is & try to pull something together.

Thanks much for answering so in-depth! I owe ya one;)

Traci,
I prefer following a video too. :)
I think any of Cathe's circuits and full body would work great in a Freestyle type rotation. I just go heavy on top and use 10lbs or less for lower. I will do full body every other day, and then add Tony's plyo legs, or Cathe's gym style's with low weights for lower works too.

Also, Squeeze type workouts. OMG, All The Right Moves Tight Tush has some killer butt work!
I just purchased Purre Barre and some of the ATRM's for lower body work. The stretching and yoga stuff helps with all the lower body work I've been doing.

ROF! You little enabler you! "All The Right Moves Tight Tush" and I gave Squeeze away but you're right - that would be a great one too! Thanks for all the help!
What do you think about this:
Day 1: Lower (like a cathe w/ the 10# vest)
Day 2: Lower (like a non weighted or plyo)
Day 3: All Upper
repeat in that pattern
I'm still easing my upper body back into workouts from an injury so FB evey other day might be too much for another month or so
I re-read my Lower Body Solutions & she has ya doing legs 6 days in a row... I dont think mentally I could do that! LOL

Traci,

I think that looks great. I couldn't begin with 6 days. I tried. I fried my legs the first week. I had to build up to 6.
I have to admit, I LOVE working my lower body. I have to push myself for upper body work.

You didn't like Squeeze? I use it to sub for videos that have zero- poor floor work. Tight Tush has those pelvic pulses on the wall, only much much worse. I need the extra glute work:eek: Alone, it's not much of a workout, but added into weight training...it's a good mix.

I like the ATRM's because it has just enough yoga for me to tolerate with some good ballet type conditioning. I HATE yoga. I think Tony is the reason why. 90 minutes of yoga is sheer torture for me. I can handle the small segments.
