TIVO...do you have it? How do you like it?

After racking my brain and coming up with no ideas for my husband for Christmas, I FINALLY thought of something that he would probably like...you guessed it, TIVO.

Do you all like it? Is it really cool? Is it worth it? I didn't realize until now that there is a monthly charge for "service" so I want to make sure it's worth the $$$....

TIA!:)

TIVO is awesome!!! I have never regretted the day I got it last year. Makes recording so incredibly easy. Great gift Wendy...:)...Carole

I love and now that I have it, I could never live without it!! It is worth the extra 5 bucks a month! I record shows from fittv...including Cathe and do them when I have time. Also, it is good to record something and begin watching it 15 minutes later. That way, you can fast forward through commercials! It is great!

I have a DVR through Comcast cable and absolutly LOVE it!! I have my favorite programs set to record on a season pass, so I dont even have to think about it. And then it is so nice to fast forward through commercials, which means with the way they run commercials - you can watch Desparate Housewifes in 40 min instead of an hour... :)

LOVE IT!!

Ditto! We have a TiVo and we love it! :)

I LOVE it. It's one of those things like caller id - not a necessity, but you can't imagine how you ever lived without it. I don't have TIVO, I have DVR through my cable company and it's $8.95 a month added to my bill.

The funniest thing is that I actually watch LESS tv, because I fast-forward through commercials and boring parts.

I think your husband would be thrilled with it! Good gift idea.

Thanks ladies!!!

Now for my 2nd question....there are 2 models I am considering...the 40 hour tivo and the 80 hour tivo...the $ difference is quite substantial so I need to know your opinnions on which to buy....is having all of that extra time worth it TRULY????

TIA again!:)

I agree with ALL the posts! Buy it for him -- your husband will LOVE it! And so will you!

We've had ours for about 6 years now. It was pretty expensive back then, but worth it. Honestly, I don't know how I could ever watch real tv again!

I tape all my shows and watch them when I want -- seriously I can't remember the last time I watched an entire show, in real time. For instance, even if I am watching a show during real time, I will pause it, then fast forward, etc.

My husband even tapes his sports. It is wonderful he can zip through a football game in no time, and if his team is losing he will fast forward and just get it over with -- which is much better than having a grumpy husband spending an entire afternoon watching his team lose.

Ok - I can't say enough about it -- just buy it!!

I have the Time Warner Cable DVR and it's great. I got a bundled package deal because we have cable for the TV and Road Runner for our internet. I think it operaters pretty much the same way TIVO does.

My DH just set us up with something called Myth TV which runs on his computer and hooks up to our TV. It is free, and works just like TIVO.

We have Replay. It is similar to Tivo, but is a different brand. They offer a 1 time fee or you can pay monthly. We also have had a DVR from the cable company(non brand name that does the same thing) We just love it. Now we go to movies and say "Dang, wish I could Tivo it so I can see that scene again." Once you get one, you'll wonder what you did without one.

We have the exact same thing - TW DVR and RR. My favorite feature is the ability to pause live TV - a definite must-have in my book ;-) .

Wendy-My son bought me a tivo awhile ago and I LOVE it. I tivo lost and The biggest loser and some other shows I like. It is so nice to have. I would get the 40 hour unless your hubby has a lot of shows he wants to record or if he wants to save then for along ime. I use to tivo cathe on fittv until I got almost all her workouts :) I say do it and he will love it!
