Tingley and numbness down arm

For the past few weeks I have had a slight stiff neck and shoulder and tingles down my arm, especially if I sit too long or if my arm is extended. Sitting with my arm on a table or my arm in my lap is bothersome. Anyone ever experienced this? I am not in any pain, I thought I may have a pinched nerve. I most likely will see a doctor next week. I have been exercising and feel fine when I do, but I wonder if I am aggravating something. I hope it's not spinal! Any feedback?

It could be a minor aggravation and could be something like carpal tunnel or tingling from a neck issue. I'd go to a dr. to get it checked out just in case. I ignored my symptoms for a long and just made things that much worse.

Thanks for the reply. I hope it's very minor, but it is driving me nuts, so next week I need to make an appointment with a sports medicine doctor. Would this be a good person to see?

I get it my hands and feet and it may very well be related to my TMD, the dysfuncton of my jaw. You might want to try bodywork like massage or see a chiropractor first? Good luck!

I always try to go to a sports medicine dr. if I can. They seem to have more of an idea of what we do for fitness.

It probably is something minor, but just in case it isn't, I'd get it checked out.

DO you spend a lot of time on the phone - for your job, or at home? Your symptoms are similar to those experienced by people who talk on the phone alot, but don't have headsets - they constantly cradle the phone between their ear and shoulder, so they can have their hands free to write, type, etc. It can cause numbness, tingling, neck stiffness and pain on the side that you most often cradle the phone on. Of course, if you're not on the phone a lot, then this isn't the problem. Just thought I'd throw it out there, just in case. :)

Hey Fab40! I hope this passes. If I were you, I'd see a dr. It seems nothing is minor in my family. ;)

My DH had numbness and tingling down his arm into the fingers. It was the cervical spine. I just emailed him to refresh my memory on the details. He thought he had "pulled a muscle" but it wasn't improving. He FINALLY saw our doctor and discovered it wasn't a pulled muscle. So, I would see a doctor. I am keeping my fingers crossed it is nothing.

Here is DH response:
"normal day – to – day – this sounds exactly like my symptoms. A constant tingle and such. Especially if my arm was in the same position for a long period of time – then it was really bad because my arm could almost go numb."
