How long does it take to start to see muscles. I only started real weight training last february. I am pushing myself and I am lifting a bit heavier now, but I am also not over exagerating and going crazy. I am planning to get harder weights DVD from Cathe, but will first focus on the new ones I got since they are still challenging. I did get a comment from 2 people that I look "Ripped" or "Fit". I've been exercising since 8 years but only started to do real weight lifting now. I honestly don't see that I am more ripped. I don't feel anything in my cloths. I feel my stomac and arms are tighter but where are the muscles? Where are my abs? I've gain 3 pounds... I guess muscles.

I started to take Whey Protein. Does it take 6 months to see muscles? May be it depends on the person. I am not naturally muscular. I see some girls build muscles so fast and just seem to have more muscles. I am very round style. I hope one day I will see real muscles. But I love working out and I am crazy about Cathe. I look forward every morning for working out. It's the best time of my day honestly (my life is EXTREMELY stressful). So I will never give up. Just curious when I will see obvious muscles.

Hi, I am sure it can be different for each individual person. But in my own experience, I started weight lifting seriously in January 2007, first doing Jari Love and now combining that with Cathe, and it was only this week for the first time that I looked at my biceps and said, OMG, there is a big muscle there. I am not really seeing any major visible changes anywhere else yet, but I still have body fat I must lose first to uncover the muscles. I am having a blast looking in the mirror at those biceps though and thinking of buying a lot of cap-sleeve shirts, ha ha ha. Anyway hang in there. Since two people are saying you look "ripped" and "fit" there must be some great things happening.

Aim for nothing, and you'll hit it every time!

I am one who builds the 1st bit of muscle pretty quickly, but to get a really ripped look, it takes forever - I still haven't gotten there, but if I see old and new pics of me, I can def tell the difference. I think everyone's body is going to respond differently. You may also be ripped, but hiding it under a layer of fat (not saying you are fat or that you have fat to lose). I still have some pounds to lose and as they come off, the muscle is much more defined. Also, remember, you see yourself everyday, and small day to day changes may go unnoticed by you, but if you see someone you haven't seen in a few weeks or even months, they are really going to notice. Maybe trying taking a few pictures of yourself now, and then repeat the same pictures in a month or so, and I'll bet you notice a difference!!

totally agree. i wasn't seeing it in my back until dh took some pictures, and now i can defiently see my hard work.i have been doing some serious training with cathe for about 2 years and i am starting to get my upper body together. it was the hardest thing for my me to build. my legs seem to build easly(once i get all that fat off the top LOL) but my upper body is much smaller then my lower and has a hard time getting it together, but with commitment and determination it WILL get done.

IMO, the biggest thing you can do to look defined once you have been weight training is to change your diet. I did a two week eat clean challenge where I ONLY ate clean (NO cheating) for the past two weeks and really followed almost everything in Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Diet" book. In just two weeks, I have noticed such a difference. I did have definition before and didn't need to lose any weight (I weigh about 110 at 5'3), but in doing this challenge, I have noticed WAY more definition.

You might want to clean up your diet (if you're not already).

Just my experience, everyone is different.

Sounds like you need to take a closer look at your diet. Journalize everything you eat for a while and see if you can pinpoint what needs to be changed up. We usually eat more than we think we eat until we look at it all on paper...you'd be amazed!

Also, you may need cardio...are you doing cardio?

First look at your diet since it is about 80% of the equation. See how that works.
