Hi Everyone,
After a lot of soul searching and talking to you fine folks, I have decided to up my weight work out and decrease some of my cardio.
For me I spend most of my time doing cardio and now my ankles are not thanking me for it.
Last night I purchased the oxygen magazine, which as some really good articles in it and they are all about women of different shapes and sizes. But looking at these women also made me realize that this is what I want to look like.
In this issue there was even a article in it about how many calories you need per day, once you find out that part they also tell you how to lose 5 pounds, gain 5 pounds or stay right where you are.
For me this meant that I had to cut my calories to about 1800 which I don't even think I was getting anyway. So this issue was atreat for me cause I realized I should be eating more. And that that cookies really does matter.
So I just finished doing power hour.Upped my weights on the lunges and squat to 40 pounds...I waas using 30 before.Didn't up my chest cause I have problems withmy lungs enlarging, upped my shoulders and upped by biceps tp 25 pounds on barbell.
This was a challenging work out and I did sweat. So ,I am so motivated to change my work out.I have been doing cardio for so long and just a little bit of weights when I had that time. Now my body is going to get a rude a wakening, it is time for a change.

Hey Lori - Good for you. I did the same thing. After almost one year of tonnes of cardio, I decided to concentrate on strength training. I am so glad I did - It was as if I had discovered the magical solution I was missing. Sometimes you need to experiment a bit to find out what works best for your body. Best of luck and I hope you get the results that you want.

Hi All!

I'm curious about other's results with this. I'm certainly not looking to lose weight, but have always loved my heart-pumping intense cardio sessions. Lately, I've not been so jazzed with my overall look. Sure, I'm thin and can see some tone, but I'd like to see more definition. I've thought about backing off cardio, but fear that my body has become so accustomed to 5-6 days of cardio, that if I backed down to less that I might gain weight? Any ideas?

Thanks!
Nicole

Well, I still would like to lose a few pounds and I am hoping with this I will.I have been doing cardio for so long that it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me anymore.Although last night I did go for my run.
I was even doing two cardio work outs a day and it didn't matter.I have read in these forums that alot of women have cut down on some of there cardio, afraid that they were going to gain weight, but they didn't.What they did see was amazing results. So, I am getting tired of the same routine and figured that I should make a switch-a-roe.
Now, my only problem is is that I don't know what to do to day cause I don think that there is muscle that isn't sore in my body.Im sure I will find some workout to do..but it certainly won't be squats.I'm hurting just sitting here..lol
Take care,
Lori

I think that's great Lori! I'm one of the ones who responded to your earlier post. I wish I could get one of my friends to get into the weights. And my SIL for that matter. They just want to do aerobics and treadmill. They aren't happy with how they look, and I've tried telling them to try out some weights but...

Keep us posted!

Hi Lori,
I think this is a great decision and I hope it works for you! Just remember to up your weights slowly and carefully--maybe ask Cathe how much she recommends increasing per workout--there is probably a maximum percentage you should go up per week or per workout...
Good luck :)

Well guys,
It as only been a few days but I have really been watching what I am eating and have kept my in take to about 1500-1600 daily. No cookies but I did have acouple of candies.
I worked out on Wednesday and I am still sore today. Then I went for a jog wed and thurs night and yesterday I did a little bit of shoulders and biceps, drinking lots of water to.And when I got on the scale before breakfast I was down 2 pounds.
I have been eating about 120 grams of protein(and bought some protein bars)200 grams of carbs and about 40 grams of fat.Been eating alot of chicken. And beleive me I am not hungry.Right now I am eating a chicken wrap with pineapple in it and a bowl of soup and at about 3:00 I will have an apple and a protein bar(cures my sweet tooth). So things are going really well, hopefully I will stay on this track.
