time between muscle workouts

I usually do a total body weight workout as MM or ME. That the reason why I usually rest two days between the weight workouts. If I use the S & H, the PS series or the GS workouts I work chest and triceps one day and the next day I work biceps, back and shoulder. In the third day I work my lower body. The muscles need time to recover and grow. Hope this helps.

I agree w/ Mariangeles in that I usually do a total body weight workout and give my muscles a day or two to recoup. If I do split things up then you can go everyday doing different parts. Don't continually work the same muscle group daily or you run into the risk of strain and over fatigue. That doesn't help you at all!

Thank you all so much. I have go 72 hours instead of 48 this week and I was worried that was too long. Not so, thanks!

72 hours shouldn't be too long. I read somewhere that something like 4 days between workouts is the longest you can go without losing some strength. I can't remember the exact timing, but it was less than a week.

I'm on a four day split, training two to three body parts a day, and work each body part only once per week (except abs and calves are twice a week). That allows for maximum muscle growth, if growth is what you are after.
