thyroid test

I recently had a thryoid test and the levels were off and so I have to go back for another in 6 weeks. I've been drinking soy milk and have read here that it can affect the thyroid. Question is how long should I stop drinking it before my next test to see if the levels change. Can anyone help?
Thanks Sherry

Hi Sherry,

I would stop drinking it at least 4 weeks before if not the whole 6 weeks. As sometimes the chemical, in soy can affect the thryoid for a long time. Granted the soy milk in your body will wash out very quickly but the thyriod is very sensitive and if you irritate it just once it will flare up sometimes even for weeks. And ignore my use of chemical, I do a lot of clinical research and everything gets writen down as chemical even water. I just can't think of a better term at the moment.

Hope that helps,

Kit

Are you planning on drinking soy milk again after your test? If so, I don't think it would beneficial to your health to stop if there may be a problem. Just mho. But I can't give any input on when to stop, sorry!
