"Thriller" dance video clips just for fun!

Hey everyone!

I was sent these three YouTube clips via e-mail today and I couldn't wait to share them with you guys. They are so much fun!

Here's the deal. With the 25th anniversary re-release of Michael Jackson's "Thriller", there has been this huge pop-up of amateur groups learning the "Thriller" dance, and there are a LOT of clips of this on YouTube, I discovered. In the three that were sent to me, three very unlikely groups dance "Thriller". The first one is 1,000 inmates in orange jumpsuits at a Filipino prison. The second one is the Oklahoma University marching band -- the crowd's reaction is hilarious! And in the third one, a bride (in the big white dress), groom and their bridal party just bust out into "Thriller" in mid-reception to the delight of their guests. The groom REALLY gets into it and he's not bad! :)

Michael Jackson's original video is on YouTube too (uploaded by HIM), if you want to see the real thing. ;-) I have to confess -- nerdy though this probably is -- that ever since I first saw that video way back when, learning that choreography has been on my "life" list, too. ;-) Man, do I want to learn how to do this. Can't y'all see us doing a huge "Thriller" group in Cathe's big studio on a Road Trip??? AWESOME FUN!

Enjoy!!! :)

Hahahaha! Kathy, the clips are fantastic! I especially like the one with the prisoners -- it's nice to see our tax dollars at work -- Lol!! I loved that video, too. Truth be told, this is the ONLY music video I have ever liked (not a big fan of MTV). Now I'll be terribly disappointed if you don't choreograph and film this little number on the next Road Trip :p :7

Me too, Michele -- I am not a music video watcher, but I thought "Thriller" was, and is, groundbreaking and just fabulous to watch.

Way to lay on the Road Trip pressure, pal. ;-) Tell you what, if we have a Road Trip this year, YOU come and YOU choreograph and teach "Thriller" to us, how 'bout that??? :7 :7

Well, it's not OUR tax dollars, so who cares? ;) :p Besides, I doubt there's very much cost involved in learning and performing a dance routine - keeps 'em busy and out of trouble. It's really quite amazing they were able to coordinate that many people!

I would LOVE to do the Thriller dance for one of the Road Trip workouts! ;)

OMG!!

Kathy, you seriously have NO IDEA what you're asking -- LOL!!! Me...dance!? Bwahahahaha! I can barely manage to get through a walking DVD, I'm so clumsy ;)

Oh, oh, I know -- I was just kidding. I thought it was totally hilarious, especially the guy dressed up like a girl -- priceless!

Those are great! I love to the watch the movie "13 going on 30" with Jennifer Garner because they dance to "Thriller". Definitely a blast from the past. Has it been 25 years already?

RE:

Those were great - I liked the drum corps! Although it's pretty impressive you could get all those prisoners to do that - and loved the dude in drag!

RE:

Kathy,
Thanks for some great fun! My family and I enjoyed watching all three videos after watching the original Thriller with Michael Jackson. It was a great way for my kids to see why he was so popular once upon a time!

Hi Kathy,

That is great. Count me in too. I want to learn. I always liked that video too. Thanks for the clip.

Kathy, I can't believe you posted this! I saw those videos a few months ago and loved the wedding one so much, I've been determined to learn the routine. I swear, if you do this dance at the next RT, I will actually try to go (despite my crowd shyness)! What fun!!! :7 :7

ETA: I just watched it again. I don't know if that guy is the groom, but he is an awesome dancer.

Nancy!

Nance, I'm so glad you enjoyed them again! I thought the wedding one was just hysterical, especially because that SO could not have happened at my wedding. My sweetie pie, God love him, finds Cathe's "side step" warm-ups choreographically challenging!! :)

You should really really really try to come on the next RT, girl, Thriller or no Thriller. I promise you'll find that this is the friendliest, warmest crowd you ever met in your life. It feels more like meeting up with a room full of high school friends that you haven't seen in ages!

Kathy, you are sweet, and I know you mean well, but is it a bad thing that I would rather have a lit cigar up my nose than meet anyone from my high school??? ;)
