Those of you who purchased Amy Bento - feedback?

I'm curious about the feedback on the Amy Bento workouts. I know several people over here ordered them and I'm wondering what you all thought and how advanced she really is, compared to Cathe. Is her cueing any good? Is her form good? How would you rate the step choreography, compared to, say, Cathe or Christi Taylor?

Marie,
I recently got A team bootcamp. I have to say I liked it. I found her cardio portions to be as intense as Cathes and they are 2 minutes instead of one. The strength portion is more functional fitness based and not very long. There is some great ab work and interesting moves on the stability ball. I did not even notice the whooping people were talking about. The only think I did not like is she took really long breaks after the cardio portion before the strength portion. You could remedy that by running in place or some other activity. The warm- up is about 6 minutes and then 50 minutes alternating intervals like Cathe's bootcamp. I liked her. Overall it is not as intense as Cathe but pretty close and the workout was fun. I would definitley recommend it and it is great to do on days that you want a full body workout. I would defintily recommend going heavier with the weights in this one to keep the heartrate up and definitley reduce the amount of rest time. Her personality was good and the quality was good. I am probably going to get the step challenge one also. Of course she is not Cathe, but it is a good workout and something different. Hope this helps. I have heard mostly good reviews from her dvd's. Take care!

I got all of them but only have done the Advanced Step Challenge. It wasn't that great, as a matter of fact, I already sold it. Its very complex, high impact and hard on my back. I twisted my ankle doing the Crazy Shuffle (not badly, just landed on it wrong and now its sore) and by the end of the workout my low back was killing me. Not for me. Lots of wooping in this one.

Debbie,
Thanks for the heads up on the step challenge. The last thing I need is an injury. Hope your ankle is better soon.

I've done the Advanced Step Challenge twice and have really enjoyed it (plan to do it tomorrow morning). I thought it was as challenging as Cathe, but different. The combos are short and just as you get used to one, she starts the next. Some may not like this, but I think this will really stop boredom from long term use. I love Cathe and I love Christy and those are the only two I use for step (I really prefer intense workouts). I do not think Amy's choreography is as complex as Christy but it is harder than Cathe's choreography (but that may just be because I am so used to Cathe). I thought her cueing was okay, but not as good as Cathe. She seems to tell you what to do just as you are supposed to do it, not the step prior. But, I noticed on my second time through, this wasn't a problem for me. I "got" this workout much faster than I got my first Christy workout. I can usually get Cathe the first time through. I did not think the workout was as "fun" as Christy. But I still really, really liked it.

I enjoyed her choreography. Many fun moves that were intense. Lots of stuff I haven't seen before. She intermixes complicated steps (like the crazy shuffle) with easy steps. That way, if you are still learning and haven't quite gotten the harder stuff, it's easy to figure out where you are and try it again the next time through.

I have been having issues with my achilles but this workout did not seem to bother me the way that Cathe sometimes does. Not sure if it's because it doesn't have as much jumping or what?

I highly recommend watching the section where she teaches the more complicated moves. I got this down before I did the workout for the first time.

I plan to keep this one and do it often. I will continue to buy her workouts in the future.

Whooping didn't bother me. I didn't even notice.

Not sure if this will mean anything to you, but I also recently purchased Ready, Step, Go and did not like it. I stopped it midway through and haven't done it again. It was just bland to me. Not sure why, could have been my mood. Although Amy's Advanced Step was not as "fun" as Christy, I did not find it "bland" either.

Feel free to email me if you have other questions. There's a lot of differing opinions out there. I know it's confusing and hard to make a decision.

I purchased all four of Amy's DVD's. I love them all. The A Team BC is a really good workout and like someone else has said, she takes a little too long of a break after the 2 minute cardio to the weighted portion. But I just remedy that by doing more cardio. I had to do that with Cathe's IMAX2 also.

She has many unique moves in All Pump, too. I have been doing the A Team BC followed by All Pump. I have had some pretty good DOMS from these DVD's.

I have been doing the Advanced Step workout three times a week. I did watch the preview of the harder moves before I did the workout (I have never done that before even with Christy). This helped me intensely. She does a warm up and then four segments, with the last one being the hardest (IMHO). It really gets my heart rate up. She does a powerblast section (which is only 7 minutes) but it is intense with the step being vertical instead of horizontal.

The Abs DVD I really enjoy, too. They are two 15 minutes segments. The first is with lighter hand weights and the second one is with the stability ball. I feel it really works my abs well. I haven't done the two stretch segments yet.

As for Amy's customer service, it is above excellent. I ordered the DVD's in the morning and that night I looked on her website and saw they were advertising a 10% discount if ordering all four DVD's. This was a Thursday morning - I received my DVD's on the following Tuesday (Fed Ex) and Amy wrote me a note to tell me she was giving me the 10% off discount and she enclosed a check for the difference!

Also I have a cottage up north and when I went there for a few days last week, I found out the DVD's which are really DVD-R's would not work on my TV/VCR/DVD. This TV is only 2 years old. I was really bummed. So when I got home I posted on her website about here DVD's not working up there. She told me to e-mail her. She told me that when I pre-ordered her next two workouts she would send me the six-pack. So, she is basically replacing the DVD-R's so that I can use them up at my cottage. She apologized and she definitely tries to make things right.

I will definitely continue to purchase her workouts. They are a fantastic complement to all of Cathe's workouts.
