Thinking about competing?? HELP!

I am an advanced exerciser and was thinking about training for a fitness competition. Any of you who have done this before....I need some advice on how to get started and what to do. I have a lot of Cathe's tapes, I love to run, walk, lift weights, etc., but I just don't have a clue on where to start. Advice??

Thanks, Marcia.

Our own "competition bound" Miss Aimee has done it....I'm sure she will chime in with her wisdom soon. She did pretty good for her first time out! http://plaudersmilies.de/person/znaika.gif Icon of the Educated crowd....of which Aimee is our educated competition person.

Hi, Marcia, I found a website which might help. It has an open forum and links, so you can hook up with a female body builder!

RE: HB you so crazy!!!

Hi guys!! I just saw this thread and Hb was right, I had to chime in!! There is also another person on this forum who is much more experienced than me, in fact she helped me greatly throughout my precontest prep!! Kim Roberts is extremely knowledgable!
I did do my first comp back in Oct. and LOVED it!I will compete again this coming Oct. hopefully to take first place!
First-Find a contest you want to enter and set the date. Your best bet will be on at least 12 weeks out. More than that is even better. I like the NPC they drug test, so everybody is natural.
Second- send in your entry form!
Third- as for training I used Cathe's videos right up until the contest. Right now I'm not, I'm trying to build more muscle, so I need to go heavier and slower.
The diet was the hardest part for me. As a fitness competitor, your bodyfat won't have to be as low as bodybuilding. A plus for you, I still haven't regained my menses yet. Low carbs, high protein is the road I took, I felt awful, but it got the job done. I will do it again.
Fourth- check out bodybuilding.com and musclemag.com forums. They are full of bodybuilders who are extrememly knowledgable and helpful. Ask for advice and believe me, they'll jump to help you!! My computer went down the weekend of my comp and the bodybuilding who was helping me called from New Orleans just to see how I did! Very nice people just like on here!
If you have any questions, feel free to email me. My email address is [email protected] and [email protected]. Kim is also great, so you may want to see if she can give you any advice, she gave me tons!! Hope this helps and good luck!!!
