Cathlete
Good morning my fitness friends !

OK - are you all just trying to make me feel good by letting me start today?

Got a bit more than half of Legs & Glutes done this AM. A bit sore from running last night and definitely have lost the endurance to keep going with a Cathe workout. Not liking that AT ALL !:(

Will finish the floor work after I get home tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day - BBL to find out !:D

Good morning, Jacque, and all who follow!

To use Wendy's term, I think we're all "slogging" it this week

This morning I got up a little late, which forced me to cut my workout a little short. So I did the first five intervals of Imax 3. It's the first time I've done this one and I like it. It's a toughie. I can't say I was unhappy to run out of time ;) I'm hoping to get my walk in at lunch, but the forecast is calling for showers  so that's TBD. If that doesn't work out, then maybe a run after work, either outside or on the tread, again depending on the weather.

Hope everyone is having a good morning!

I'll try to BBL~

Jen

Morning Ladies

Well . . I did manage to make it home safely .. but not w/o incident  .. no class so was trying to get home in time to do a walk/run w/the doggies .. well I was good .. did the speed limit .. (actually forced to do the speed limit b/c I got behind a slow truck) .. after the truck turned off I sped up a bit .. passed the deer spot .. and the sun was directly in my eyes .. and YOU GUESSED it .. 2 fawns were in the middle of the road :confused: .. well I did another brilliant slam on brakes and turning of the wheel that would rival a stunt driver and managed to miss the dang things!! {{ whew }} after a string of cuss words that would make a sailor blush I slowed back down and made it to the house .. did the run and the poor dogs were probably wondering WTH my problem was ... they got a bit of an extra hardy workout yesterday ;) .. I ended the day from H## with a couple of CABS and DH cooked filet mignon, baked potatoes, and sauteed shrooms .. he is such a sweetie sometimes .. he KNEW I had had a HORRIBLE day!!! :)

ANYWHO .. today is a different day .. another chance to try to have a better out look on things and no deer, cows, or horses on the way to work this morning .. :D .. life is good!!!

Jacque .. I am sooooooooo glad I could brighten your work day!!:p leave it to me .. I have to laugh at myself .. b/c you just gotta think .. WTH???? LOL .. WOO HOO for your team!! WISH our team was 4 - 0 .. HA .. if we can find a QB and a new offensive line we will be a lot better .. they are trying out the FRESHMAN QB in practice this week (what does that tell ya) ... OY!!!!

Jen .. I loved the buffalo story .. OMG .. I would have had a heart attack. I did get chased by a banny rooster once .. DH loved that stupid rooster .. the dang thing HATED me .. he would strut around and try to spur my legs .. well DH told me to just jump at it and it would scare him and show him I was not scared of him .. OK ..so I did that . . the dang thing started flapping his wings and running at me .. I took off running and was looking back at it and ran straight into a freaking TREE ..:confused: ... DH had to get the stupid bird off of me while trying to control his hysterical laughter!!!MEN!!!! (and yes I have LOTS of these kind of stories.. wonder why???)

Ang .. oh boy .. the full moon got to Cam too huh??? I dont have kids .. but IA he needs to know how serious this could have been .. especially in today's world. You took the electronics away .. that was good .. I would let him sweat it out and think you were taking Halloween away .. but IA it only comes once a year and it is such a fun time of year .. I would prbly let him partake .. ??? .. is there some other fav thing he loves that would really make an impact if you restricted it??? ... OH .. I managed to sit quietly yesterday.. no one bothered me .. it could have been th daggers coming from these blue eyes .. ?? .. I dunno!!! LOL

Wendy .. WTG on the w/o!! Hey I had an "aha" moment TUE night in class .. we were stretching our achilles tendon .. and when you stretch it .. you can feel the stretch in the back of your knee .. have you had any pain in or around the achilles tendon??? that could be a scource of your knee pain?? (besides the overall punishment you have been inflicting on yourself)

Hello to DeeDee, DI, and Shirl!! What are you girls up to today??

OK .. gotta run .. think I am doing the elliptical at lunch... tonights class will be a combo of my version of Wendy's mint condition and power yoga!!!

have a great one girlies .. I will BBL to see what you are up to!!!:D

Hiya girls

We must've all slept in today. I know I didn't roll outta bed til 10. I was soo exhausted and really didn't want to face my morning, which didn't help things. I also stayed up to watch the debate. I think I've finally made up my mind....but who knows?

Jacque - I can't concentrate on anything else when I'm working out. I tried to watch TV while on the EXT but nothing seems to reach my brain. *lol* Plus, since I found Sean I don't bother getting on the EXT without him anymore.;)
Does stretching, Yoga, or a foam roller help with your hip? Wish I could help.
Will you have a chance to catch up on the sleep this weekend?
B&B is Back and Biceps. It's one of my fav X workouts, even though I struggled with it yesterday. Ouch! My Bis and forearms are sore today.
Thanks for the flaxseed tip!

Cam is 10. He always has been an impulsive kid and smart mouthed to boot. He's always walking a thin line and pushing his limits. He's a class clown and will push to get a laugh. It's not ALL bad since he is very smart and pushes himself academically too. However, he's definitely an "in your face" kind of person. We're trying so hard to get him to chill out and to accept responsibilty for his actions. It's just so hard to try and change a kid's personality. I remember that I was a lot like that when I was young. I think life set me straight.....yet I still have those tendencies and have certainly had to yank that foot outta my mouth more than once. Cam and I have had several heart to heart's today. Tears have been shed. He's also written letters to the principal, his friend, and his teacher. We've discussed his punnishment as well. I told him that halloween is out, unlesss he can PROVE that he has changed his habits at school. I told him it was up to him to figure out how to do that. I sent him to his room to think about it and I'm sure we will be discussing it more.

Jen - 1st time for IMAX3? It's a sweat producer for sure! I bet you'll get lots of use out of it. I know I do. In fact, that might be a good one for me to de-stress with today since Yoga is NOT gonna happen today.

Laura - Girl! You need some car whistles!! Unbelievable.:eek: Maybe you should consider riding your bike to work?;)
Awwwwww - your DH is awesome!! What a keeper.:D
LOL about the rooster and the tree. LOL! I could almost picture it. I remember once when I was a kid running away from someone who had a squirt gun, I turned around right smack into a tree and knocked myself out cold! I woke up in bed in the camper. Explains a lot doesn't it??:D:p;)

Well - I suppose it's time for Cam and I to go and deep clean his room. Blech! But, it needs to be done and he hates to do it....so off I go.

BBL babes

Hi Girls.

Just a quick note to say hello before my work out. DM is on tap for today. Be back when it's over to say hello...That is, if I survive it!

Later Babes!:)

Well it is good to see everyone is still "with us" and working out (which is the most important part !:p).

Jen - Imax's are all pretty tough but the lastest is definitely the greatest. I have many times only done half or a bit more and it is very grueling. Glad you went that far - sure it did you some good ! Hope you can get your walk or run in too - winter weather does make it difficult sometimes.

Laura - boy are you full of stories . . . and they are true ones to boot ! You sure seem to have lots of luck. In reading Angie's post I am thinking one of the Semi truck airhorns is what you need so you can "honk" when rounding a corner or having the sun in your eyes - that may just scare those critters away, what do you think? Did enjoy another laugh at your expense about the rooster chase too ! Sorry, but ya know . . . I just couldn't help it!

The 4 - 0 is quite impressive and exciting - interesting about a freshman QB . . . hope he at least had some frosh/soph experience or it could be hard playing with the Big Dogs ! Do keep us posted. So what is Wendy's "mint condition" anyway? Inquiring minds want to know . . . :D

Angie - The debate, ah yes . . . I chose "24" and a run instead. :p I am so looking forward to this election being over. Am finding it interesting that through this whole process we will be breaking into new territory either with gender or race in office. Glad to see that. The direction we take with the state of the country, that will be another story that I hope begins to look up for all of us.

Thanks for mentioning the foam roller again - if my brain remembers after work today I think Target will be a stop on my list. It is a deep pain behind the hip joint and will require more than ice can do. Massage may help ! So back and biceps - never made it to the 2nd set of DVD's. And to tell you the truth, with the way I feel when getting back to Cathe workouts, I am not sure the X is in my cards. Have gained fat and lost endurance. Had the same problem when I did Alwyn's NROLW. I think the additional cardio and endurance is what my metabolism needs.

Well Cam is not that old yet but old enough to do some things that can cause some unintended trouble. Poor guy - I wouldn't try to change his personality one bit. My middle DS is one that everyone loves to be around. He is light hearted and can be soo much fun ! I only wish he had's Cam's academic prowess - he is smart but unmotivated - and unfortunately 21 years old ! I think what you have done by making him apologize (in writing - I really like that !) is a great way to have him make amends and believe it will sink in since it takes much more effort than a quick "I'm sorry". And the fact that there have been tears means he understands it was something he should have thought a bit about beforehand. He does care he made a mistake ! I hope he does well so he can have a fun Halloween - poor guy is still young. I say GREAT JOB to you and DH for you choices in dealing with the issue. Hope all works out well.

Wendy - Hope DM treated you well - Ultra Cardio blast kicked me in the back end the other day ! :p

Enjoy the evening chiquitas !

I de-stressed with IMAX3.:D I needed a Cathe workout today.;)

Jacque - 24 instead of the debate eh? I've never watched it but I'm sure it was a better TV night than I had. The debate didn't sound a whole lot different than the last one I watched.
You gained fat on the X? How the heck did that happen? Do you use calipers to measure? I bought a pair and have never used them. I can tell that I muscle up with the X just by looking in the mirror though. But, my bod does better with weights than with endurance training. I fatten up with endurance, which is sad b/c I like it so much.:( We're all different.....makes it frustrating to figure out what works best though.
Ya gotta try B&B one of these days. If you like S&A, I'll bet you'll like B&B too.;) Nothin' better than bicep DOMS.:)
Awwwwww - thanks so much for the kind and encouraging words. I really needed that.:) I feel like such a bad parent. It's funny how you tend to put what your kids do on yourself. It's a blessing when they do good things, but when it's not...... I'm sure I'll get over that as they get older, at least to an extent anyways, I HOPE. I really don't think that I could bear to take halloween away from Cam. It would just tear me up! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and the boys have been looking forward to it too. I think he's really going to make a herculean effort to be good. We deep cleaned his room today and he really helped a lot without complaint. We got everything done exept his clothes drawers which I hope to finish up this weekend.
Hey, how'd that interview go with DS? Has he heard anything yet??

Angie

So I think I'm takin' Angie's place as the final late night poster of the evening. :)

Did DM as planned and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll tell ya, I am becoming more and more a fan of the lesser choreographed work outs.

Ang: Imax 3? YEOWZA! I still haven't pulled that one out again since re-purchasing it on the RT! I am just deathly afraid of it! LOL So your description of Cam reminds me of my son. He is currently driving me batty. It's like he's 3 going on 15 with the smart mouth and attitude lately. I'm beside myself!

Jacque: I haven't been brave enough to do UltraCardio blast. I've done the regular cardio blast in the past though and it's whooped me. It had been ages since I'd done DM as produced though. I really had fun with it today.

Laura: I recall a slight discomfort in my achillies at different points but I'll be damned if I can remember if it was on the same leg as the bum knee!:p

Jen: Sorry you had to cut IMAX 3 short this morning. I hope you were able to bypass the rain and get your lunchtime walk in.

So I'm not workin' tmrw. I took the day off to wash clothes and pack. DH and I will be in PA for the weekend. That being said I am planning to run the 3 mile loop by my house after I drop DS at school in the morning. I may stop there or go around a 2nd time. Not sure yet. We'll see how it plays out...

Off to bed with me...BB in the morning!:)

Well hope I don't bum ya out Wendy, but I'm Baaaaaaacccckkkkkkkkk ! :p

LOL about your DM experience - for some reason right now since I'm not doing the 90X I am feeling like kicking myself in the behind a bit and really "going for it". We will see how long that lasts . . . ;)

Just had to get in my last few words of the evening . . .

Finished up my floorwork from L & G and then went for another round+ of "24" while walking on the TM. Went 4 miles in 60 min and added in some "hills" here and there until I got tooo tired !

Feelin' good.

So quickly, Ang - I'm at the 50 year mark and things in my bod have switched themselves up like crazy. It's making me crazy trying to figure out what works these days. In fact, I have spend the entire calendar year so far playing with different eating habits (not giving up the beer/wine ;)) and also different types of workouts. Have only taken off one full week plus a few consecutive days (due to work or sickness) and after Alwyn and 90X for rotations of at least a month, it just doesn't seem to work for me. When I go back to Cathe after one of the aforementioned, I slim down.

Since we are "new friends" I am not sure how many of the youngin's you have running around, but I have 3: DS - 23, married with one son and another on the way, DS - 21 still at home & DD - 19 who seems like she is still trying to "find herself". They are all alot of fun. That being said, oldest is an Asst. Mgr at a Pet Smart (local animal retail store), DS #2 is the one that had the CHP interview (seems like it went OK but only time will tell - please cross fingers and toes for me :D) and he is a local Cust Serv Rep making $10+ an hour - did take some Admin of Justice courses at the local CC but not many, and then my DD who is a Vet Tech - enjoying it (but only making $10+ which is barely enough to survive here in CA )and after her 3rd call in the past 3 months that she has lost her living arrangements, I think I finally talked her into trying to "find" a lucrative career (nursing - cross fingers and toes again please !) !

All mine are smart but don't enjoy the books. I am a college grad and totally believed in it back then, but at least here in CA, it is almost a given these days. Mind you I was one of those SAHM's who was thoroughly involved in their elementary school, classrooms included, and coached or helped the coaches with all their sports. We all played roller hockey and on Sun, my current DH (not their father) coached and reffed them too.

My point: We did the best we could, they are really fun "kids" and though the may not be the most motivated at this point in time, they are pretty much making it on their own and haven't been into any trouble.

You are doing great from my perspective as one who has BTDT and most importantly, you are trying to give Cam very decent and respectful morals with which to live by. He is young, but in a few years you will only be guiding and it will be him making his own decisions based upon the wisdom you have given him.

It is soooo very hard to let them "fly on their own", but you only hope you have given them enough to make good decisions, or at least decisions that won't hurt them too much in the end. Remember . . . we have all learned by mistake and really never stop as we come across new obstacles.

OK - I take back my earlier "quickly" and will get down off my soapbox. I am so enjoying this cycle of life - and now that I have been through some of what all of you are currently going through, would like to share in case I can help in any way. I have always been one to listen to whatever anyone has to say and then decide what I will take to heart and what I take with a grain of salt.

Hope y'all had a great evening - I did and I am happy about it! :D

See ya in the AM - I have Low Max and that one exhausts me too ! I am sure the old buns will be feeling it by the time I get to work.
