The Secret...

I also wanted to post this webiste as well.
Ester and Jerry Hicks are part of a group spiritual group that call themselves Abraham..thus the Teachings of Abraham.
She is actually in the movie "The Secret" I found her to be one of the most interesting and dynamic speakers in the movie.

I just noticed that this post has had 800+ hits..that in itself is inspiring!

Catherine,

You are correct, I went to check the link and it is no longer there..sorry everyone. If I find another free link I promise I will post it, I found that free link from another forum that I frequent.

I feel so blessed just to have had the opportunity to view the movie, I believe that it has totally changed my way of thinking about my life.

Reminds me of a cassette tape I had back in the 80's to attract your soul mate. Not kidding, 2 weeks after I listen to that tape, I met my hubby. I agree that it is all about attitude and what you want out of life and you can make it happen just from the energy you project.

>Yeah, what Wendy said. At a hour and thirty minutes you are
>going to have to tell my something else to pique my interest.
>LOL. That is like a freakin' movie!

I agree! I "watched" it, which means in my usual style I fastforwarded through it and watched about 20 minutes worth. It comes across as an extended infomercial for positive thinking. Basically a bunch of talking heads with titles like 'Philosopher' and 'Metaphysician' narrate vignettes about people who became millionaires or healed their spinal cord injuries by thinking good thoughts. The tone of the film is such that I kept on thinking they were going to try to get me to convert to scientology or spend $500 on a set of tapes that would make me rich! Sorry sweetie, but I don't think it's for right-brain people like me.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, I really enjoyed watching it.

A bit like "what the bleep do we know" but better done I thought. I'm a big proponent of positive thinking, visualization, goal-setting, etc. I've seen these things work again and again in my own life.

This was pretty good. I didn't even fast forward!!:D

That said, I think they could have said all that in 20 min. I was really starting to trail away towards the last half hour, just wanting it to be over. But the content was really interesting, but nothing I haven't heard before. That has got to be really hard to put into practice though.

One thing I didn't get though is they said no matter how much you tell yourself you are going to get something, that it won't happen unless you are align with getting that thing. In other words, you must make sure you really want that thing. Therein lies the problem. For example, I am in nursing school. On a daily basis I question if I am doing the right thing. I love learning all the information in school but often feel incompetent, clumsy with the skills, and fear failure. So, in accordance with the movie, if I just tell myself that I know all I need to know, am great with the skills, and will suceed no matter what, all is good. But, if nursing ISN'T my true calling, none of that good will come to me anyway. So, I am right back where I started!!!x( Is it my fears about myself making me doubt nursing or is it my INTUITION??? Is it my past and learned behaviors telling me I am no good or is it my deep down soul trying to tell me to bail ship and pursue something else??? You can drive yourself crazy thinking these things....and I HAVE!!:p I just keep putting one foot in front of the other, on the brink of insanity, hoping that the end result will take me one day to where I want to be....

I guess it would work with making money though. Also, when they mentioned thinking about an old friend and then having that old friend cross your path...I got goose bumps. My childhood friend and I lost contact junior year of high school. Ever since then I have regularly dreamed about reuniting with her and wondering some waking moments about her. Last month, after twelve years, SHE SHOWED UP AT MY FATHERS FUNERAL!!! Very strange. Anyway, maybe there is some truth to it. Just like all those goal books that tell you to write down your goals and imaging yourself acheiving them. Say them over and over everyday until you really believe them. You are what you tell yourself you are. Pretty much the same thing.

Thanks for the video. Thought provoking, but they should have made it shorter. You could sum up the whole video in two paragraphs.

Hey Janice!

Interesting thread. I haven't watched the video (don't have the time) but kinda get the gist. I am all for that kind of positive thinking put into action, and I do think it makes a huge difference in your life.

I just wanted to give you a shout-out about your nursing school and how you're feeling about it -- all completely, completely normal, IMHO. I think any pursuit of a difficult, time-consuming and expensive goal is BOUND to involve periods of thinking "What am I doing??? Is this the right thing??" But I think nursing training, and other medical training, is bound to trigger those kinds of thoughts even more often, because the skills you have to learn to be a good nurse, frankly, involve a lot of high-stakes stuff. Do it wrong and you could seriously injure or kill someone. (Much bigger stuff than was EVER put at risk by my skillset as a lawyer! :)) So for you to question your own skills and commitment seems to me to be a natural, even a healthy, thing, Janice.

My sister is an experienced ER, trauma and hospice nurse, and although she wanted to be a nurse from age 13, nursing school was a real time of crisis-in-self-confidence for her and she felt much the same way you say you do. To this day she says that being the lead nurse on a big-time trauma scares the pants off of her. But she loves her work and says she would never do anything else.

My hunch is that nursing is, indeed, a calling that you'll be very good at and will find deeply satisfying. I say this because you've been through so much raw emotion this year -- enough to send most people crawling under the covers for days -- and still you're getting up, putting one foot in front of the other, carefully second-guessing the commitment to nursing school, and yet re-affirming that decision and going forward every single day. To me, that's a sure-fire sign that you are on a great path.

Stick to it and keep telling yourself positive things, sweetie pie. You're going to be a great nurse!!! :)

RE: Hey Janice!

I listened to it this morning. I got what it is about and there is truth to this as we all release a energy, but I would never "worship" the "universe", it is not my God. I have had some positive experiences that have come true that I wanted due to positive thinking and a changed attitude, etc., then there are other things that have happened in my life that only God could make happen in the order it happened, not the "universe". Just my 2 cents worth.

RE: Hey Janice!

>>but I would never "worship" the "universe"

OK I missed that part of it. Or maybe when they were speaking of the universe I took it as God. All in all I think the premise is correct. We create our own lives through our actions and reactions. I agree I do not worship the universe. I do however think that all things in this universe are connected. Of course that is because God made the universe and everything in it.

Awwww, WOW, that is just so nice! Thank you so much Kathy!! I am plugging along slowly but surely. I just started my third semester and it is going to be the toughest so far. From here on out nothing is coming easy, that is for sure. I am just going to wake up everyday and envision myself being a great nurse, loving what I do, and making $100,000 a year. LOL. Then it will really happen!!!!

I haven't watched it, but is this similar to What the Bleep do We Know? I loved that. Esp the part about the Japanese scientist and the water crystals. I have his book on my list of books to get.

I posted this link with the intent that those of you that wanted to watch the movie could.. for free only spending your time, and that those of you that have watched it will walk away enriched, hopeful, positive, loving, understanding and ready to begin a new journey in your life and to enrich the lives around you.
That this experience may enlighten you to change your life and the lives of all of those that you encounter in your daily life. So that all of us may let go of our issues, anger, hurt, pain, hate, judgement, sorrow, sadness and depression as these emotions do not serve any of us in a positive way.

I have a new saying in my life and here it is:

"It is my intention that not one being will be dimished from having met or known me"

This movie has forever changed my life and I see evidence of it every day in my daily life.

Take from it whatever your choose, that is your right of choice. Please remember that the only intention and or purpose of this is to help you on your journey in your life. The intent of this message is to reach everyone, thus the term "Universe" is a generic term used..you can chose to put whatever you want in that space be it "God" "Buddha" or whatever or whomever you choose(This is stated in the movie many times). If the makers of this movie chose to say "God" or Buddha" etc.. then many may not hear the wonderful message that it has to offer if that is not part of their beliefs.

I have no affiliation with the making, production and or the selling of this movie, therefore your thoughts, feelings and opinons about it are of no consequence to me. It is pleasing to me to see that many have been enriched by watching it.

It does surprise me to see negative comments about something so positive and wonderful, but I am very hopeful about it all. I think it would so wonderful if all of us could be more positive in our outlook and choose to see the wonders within, rather than choosing to see the negative and spreading negativity all around us.
Ater all life is what we make it and we can choose to see the glass half full, or half empty...that choice is ours and ours alone.

Love and light always
Denise

:)

Denise,

Boy, you really did read into it. I didn't get all those deep things from it. Yeah, I got that what goes around comes around and the basic gist of how to get what you want from life, but that is it! Maybe the rest of us aren't quite as metaphysical as you? I know I certainly am not. The movie was thought provoking at the very least and will certainly lead me to try to be more positive overall. Thank you for providing it. Sorry it was taken down again, glad I got to see it when I did!:)

Thanks for posting it. I really enjoyed it. I think I got another piece to what I have been trying to learn for years. BTW...I took universe to mean whatever you believe in as well whether its God, Buddha, Higher Self, Spirit...its all different terms for the same thing.

Aw, Denise...I am not trying to add any negative insight into this. I think it is a good thing, but just for me, I would not want to forget who my God, that is all. I think life is what we make it too.
