The Real Age test

This is kind of neat, and forgive me if it's been posted here before. It's a test to find your "real" age. You need to know things like your resting heart rate, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels, but you can also check "don't know" for these things. It's a nice indicator of areas where you can improve. Mine was 6 years younger than my chronological age, but I didn't know my cholesterol values so that could affect it. Have fun!!

Wow....thanks Carol....it did take awhile but I went from 45.1 to 36.7...I do believe the exercise helped alot! Thanks so much for the site, I will run DH thru it later...:)...Carole

Carol: Thanks for the site. I scored 5.8 years younger than my chronological age. I see a trend developing with those of us who make exercise a regular part of our lives. I'm anxious to see how my husband does later. Thanks again. Lynda

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it so much! It was up there as a banner on my Yahoo home page, so I clicked on it. I could see as I went through the questionnaire how much exercise had to do with lowering your "real" age! Hooray for us Cathe-ites!!! We are doing such healthy things for our minds and bodies!!!

Well, I did the test, and unfortunately I came out almost a year older (at one point I was over 4 years older). I work out 5-6 days a week, so the exercise did not help me. I didn't know my cholesterol, and said it was average. The things that hurt me were health issues (I have asthma, mild excema, allergies and I get migraines-I went way up after checking those), and I have some personal issues going on. I did not see a significant decrease after putting in the exercise. I think what brought it back down was mainly that my health issues are being treated.

Oh well, at least everyone comments on how slim I am and how young I LOOK.

Thanks for providing that link, Carol. Very interesting. I unfortunately was a smoker in my youth (for 10 years) and that of course works against me. But, my active lifestyle and the fact that it's been 18 years since I quit have helped to 'cancel' that sin out. It was interesting how factoring in my past smoking habit added 3.5 years to my RealAge number. Fortunately I have no bad eating habits and a healthy immediate family to draw on too or that number probably would have been even higher.

But if any of you reading this are still smoking or are a 'casual' smoker....STOP IT RIGHT NOW!! It is one nasty habit and you can quit if you want too bad enough. Some of you might be thinking...this is a fitness forum, people here don't smoke. I was a competitive runner and a smoker. Oxymoron yes, but it's real life.

I also printed out the Nutrition Summary...what a neat table format. I am going to put that in my kitchen drawer with my recipe cards so it is always handy to use as a reference.

Nutrition Summary?

Can you give me the link to that page? I can't seem to find it. thanks!

RE: Nutrition Summary?

Thanks Susan, but I meant the link for the Nutrition Summary. I took the test and used all answers from BEFORE I had my injury and I came out 9.5 years YOUNGER!!! I LOVED this test! Ha! I am going to take it again to see if I cheated somewhere!
