The No Sweets Check-In - June 8, 2005

Everyone's doing so well!

I've been good today. The closest I got to cheating was a half cup of applesauce at lunch. I know an apple would have been better, but I didn't have one of those sitting in my desk. :)

Hooray for Us! Lets give each other a huge pat on the back for all our hard work, and NOT doing something can be very hard! Even if we've slipped at times we are still learning to become more aware of...well everything, not just the sugar.

We've made it over a week ladies, we can make it another one! A girl in my Weight Watchers group told us of a VERY helpful thing her Grandmother always said: "Yard by yard, life is HARD; Inch by inch life's a CINCH!" Grandma's are very wise like that.

Here's to another inch!

It's official...the couple we "bought" a house from and planned on moving into the middle of July have terminated our contract. We have to move out of our house on July 17th. We sold it because we thought we "bought" a house. So far, we don't have anything lined up for July 17th which wouldn't be so daunting if I didn't have two dogs and two cats.

My daughter (only child) is graduating from high school this Friday. Her school had their awards banquet tonight. I had a 2" slice of an apple tart. It is the only sugar I've had in 7 days.

Can I still be in "the club"?? P.S. Please remember I gave away my Honest Tea Chai w/ organic sugar cane juice last week!

AHH Kim That is horrible about the house! I wish you luck on a new one soon. All things considered I think you did well to only eat a bit of apple tart! I am sure everyone will forgive you:)

Kim, I am sorry to hear about the house too! Stinkers! Hey, how bad can the Honest Tea be, to have give it up? I have the Community Green and it's two servings at 17 calories per and the one. No guilt in that. The Honest Tea with the ginger floating in it, I find amazing. :) They are not too sweet. Maybe the chai is sweeter, I don't know and I AM babbling. I have had no problems not eating sweets but I had a double cheese burger at In and Out Burger in Phoenix last night. They are supposed to build one in Tucson but haven't. It's where I'd indulge my occasional burger thing but, no-o-o, the build Krispee Kreme and not the IN and Out Burger. But I digress.... No one can kick you out for a sliver of apple tart, not even you!

I love Vitasoy's Rich Chocolate soy milk but it does have more sugar than the vanilla so I try to buy the vanilla most of the time. I don't think it would be a big deal if it had 19g of sugar as long as your daily intake was 50g or less (those are the American Diabetes Association guidelines and I've been trying to follow them for this month and hopefully I'll keep doing it for life).

Okay here we go. I'm getting ready to go to bed. Today I had a fig newton (6g of sugar). The rest of my diet was clean :) Can I get a woot woot!!!!!! This is getting easier and girls seriously I need to buy new pants soon! or a belt haha!

Kim -- you deserve the apple tart... speaking as the biggest stress eater of all time, I would have cleaned out the bakery at the grocery store..... I hope your situation get better soon....
