The next Step

Cathlete
Hi everyone,

I have recently mastered 'Step Heat.' Which should be my next purchase. I'm cardio challenged so none of Cathe's newer stuff will fit the bill. I have ordered her new step (beginner), but want to try another of her older workouts. Music is very important to me. I like soul/funk for step workouts. I like rock music, but find it hard to step to. To give you an idea of my taste, I love the music in Kari's Body Tech and like the music in Intense Moves (Gin), Fitness Formula (Kari) and Ultimate Step (Kelli). Thanks for all your help and for encouraging me to step.

I think if you are going to work out with Cathe, you are going to have to take the music she uses! Sorry!!! Try to focus instead on building up your mastery of choreography and explosive power moves and moving up with Cathe as you progress from her least intense to her more intense videos.

After Step Heat I recommend "Step Fit" and then "Powermax." These are not dancy tapes, but full of plyos to keep the heart rate up, especially Powermax, I mean, just look at the name!

Cathe's music on her older tapes is quite different from the music on her newer stuff. I prefer the newer stuff, but whatever, Cathe always manages to fit the moves so well to the music, the two seem made for eachother.

I thnk the thing is that few of us would choose to sit and listen to workout music when relaxing at hhome. Our tastes are way different. So even if you wouldn't choose her workout music for playing in the car, that doesn't necessarily mean you wouldn't like it for working out to. The fisrt song in Step heat bores me to death, and I couldn't hum for you the music to the second section, but when it plays about halfway through that second section when the power of the moves is increasing, it gives me an energy surge because it fits the moves so well.

So, keep an open mind: you might just like the whole package regardless of whether you'd ever buy it on CD or not!!!

I bought the DVD which has Step Heat on it...I just tried one of the other workouts, Step Max which I liked almost as well as Step Heat (maybe more, but I've only done it once whereas I've done Step Heat about 4 times). It has a bit of funky music on it as well and the last segment is called "plyo power" to step things up a notch.

Edited to add: I am choreographically challenged as well which is the reason I bought this DVD to begin with! :) :) :)
