The New Method w/ Jennifer Kries

I saw these tapes in the Collage magazine and was very interested. I'm wondering if anyone has any of them? OR maybe the original Method Series with Jennifer? I got hooked on the Method while it was on the Health Network, but I haven't seen any shows on there for several months...I don't know why they would stop airing them!!!???!!! I really like her teaching style, its like Cathe doing Pilates! You don't have to look at the TV non-stop to know what you should be doing. Any feedback would be great...Thanks,
Tricia

I have a two of the New methods coming in from Amazon.com. They have them avail on DVD. I'll let you know what I think after they come in.

Stott's new mat series

On the recommendation of a Pilates instructor, I just purchased Stott's new intermediate mat tape. It is wonderful! Precision Toning w/ Kries does not compare. Stott's verbal cueing & physical demonstration is excellent. Great camera work. I'm sure the beginner tape is a great start to Pilates mat work.

There are some reviews or at least forum comments on several of the new Pilates videos including The Method over at Video Fitness. You might check there. I think Kries' new videos got good reviews but the comment that it didn't really add anything to the older videos.

It's nice to have so many choices!

Thanks,

I'll check out the VF forum. Dawn, I'd like your feedback also, once you get to do these.
Thanks again!!

Agree...

I LOVE Jennifer Kreis. I love the original Method series and do it almost weekly. BUT, I got one of the new series and it's a re-hash of the original--no new moves at all. So, my advice is to get one OR the other--do not need both.

RE: Agree...

Murph,

Of the two sets, which would you REALLY suggest? I haven't got either set yet, and I would love your feedback. If memory serves, the new set is more Jennifer one on one. Is that how the first bunch were shot? I'd have to say that of the two, I would prefer her to any of the other Method instructors. PLease let me know...Thanks,
Tricia

RE: Agree...

Tricia - from the "old" Method series, I only have the "All in One" work-out. Lakey does the warm-up, Alexandra does the aerobic/weight section, and Jennifer ends with the pilates work. I've rented Precision Toning from the library. The pilates work from these two tapes is comparable. And truthfully, I tend to use only the pilates section as an add-on after I've done another work-out.

I have the new 3-D and Precision Pilates tapes. I agree that there's really nothing new here, but Jennifer does lead both of these. She does have some background exercises on some of the sections (all people that you'd recognize from the previous series). I've just recently purchased these two tapes, but so far, I prefer the 3-D tape. But I do like Jennifer, and I do love how I feel (strong and tall) after I do her work-outs. I think she gives clear instruction on positioning and breathing.

Now to address your question of choosing old or new - that really is tough. You wouldn't go wrong either way, but it is hard for us "vidiots" to pass up new material! You can check out the "previews" on the Collage web site, if that might be helpful. You can download the RealTime player for free if you don't have it already.
