The most extravagant thing I've given away....

Ok, everyone I was wondering if any of you have given something expensive away to a perfect stranger. Last week, DH and I were shopping and I ended up giving my $200 coat to a stranger because he said he liked it. I was shopping for another coat anyway and had decided to get rid of that one because I had it for awhile and because I'm getting rid of all of my wool. It was in perfect condition. I told him that if I could find a coat that day, I would come back to the store where he worked and give it to him. Well, I found a coat and ended up giving it to him. You should have seen his smile(it was a uni-sex pea coat from Abercrombie). It looked great on him!!

I also gave away my wedding ring(after my divorce) to a person on the side of the road collecting money for some cause. It felt SOOOO great to just hand something over like that. Now the look on THAT guy's face was PRICELESS!!

Has anyone else done something crazy like that??? Please share!!

I've donated my car to a charity. Blue book value was close to $5000! This is the closest to giving something away to strangers.

I gave away a perfectly good clarinet when it was clear my daughter didn't want to play it anymore. It went to a nonprofit that was collecting musical instruments to start a school orchestra in Guatemala.

this was not a donation, but i paid for a friend to go to the bahamas with me. she was cash tight as she had just bought a house...we had a blast
