The Gauntlet

Runcrazy

Cathlete
I know its been said before (and I am one of those who said it) but I just love "The Gauntlet". After having completed a 4 week Pyramid rotation, I did this workout this morning for a change of pace. It kicked my butt just like it did the first time I did it! I just love this workout. It has a little bit of everything for everyone! For those of you who have avoided this for one reason or another it's a great blend of Imax2, bootcamp cardio and both upper and lower body weight training (via Boot Camp and Cardio & Weights). It touches everything and is a great all-in-one!

Me too, Jo. There are times when I'll do it just by itself and sling an ab routine at the back end, or if I have a bit of extra time I'll add in a short upper-body set as well, having used the upper body Gauntlet segments as an upper-body warm-up. I too like how it uses Boot Camp drills as well.

Gauntlet 4-Ever!

I personally think Boot Camp is the hardest workout I've ever done...being a Cathe-ite, that's saying a lot!
I haven't run The Gauntlet yet...I'm afraid! LOL

Could you Gauntlet lovers please tell me if you think this is a good substitute for Body Max? I'm doing Cathe's July rotation (a little behind) and I've got BodyMax in the que for Sat or Sun. I'd really like to do the Gauntlet instead. What do you think?

The Gauntlet does not work upper body as well as BodyMax does, and it has no abs workout. I dont think it's a good substitute for BodyMax.

The Viper works upper body more, but it breaks up the cardio with long upper body sequences so your heart rate really drops. And it also has no abs. I dont think it substitutes well for BodyMax either.

I don't think there is a tape a lot like BodyMax, maybe someone else will suggest something.

Well, I got inspired by this thread and did the Gauntlet today, followed by the C&W abs routine. I am tired.

I haven't got BodyMax yet (but it's on it's way YAY!) so I might not be giving you good advice here but what about doing the cardio only premix from Cardio & Weights + some intervals from IMAX 2 + the Pyramid Up premix from Pyramid Upper Body (or one of the upper body premixes from Boot Camp or Muscle Endurance) + abs from C&W or another workout? I'm starting the July rotation today and if my BodyMax DVD doesn't arrive in time, I'll be mixing together the workouts I already have instead.
ATB,
- Lisa :)

Why don't you still schedule bodymax but break it up over a couple of days - do the two step portions on one day - that would count as cardio and lower body - than on the next day do the strength portion and tack on a cardio workout?

"Just a suggestion, take it or leave it." Cathe Friedrich.
