The Bearded Lady

Yikes, it seems the older I get the more hair I get in places a woman would rather not have hair!! I looked in the mirror this morning with the sunlight blaring in and was like, where did all THAT come from?! Luckily DH was already out and about so I was able to get out the wax, the tweezers, the belt sander and take care of it as best I could.

I'm thinking of electrolysis but don't I have to let it all grow in first? My god at this rate I am going to have to add "mustache comb" to my Xmas list.

I was having that problem too. I went for laszer hair removal and it worked like a charm. It did take a few visits though and cost about $100 a visit, but worth every penny to me. However, you can't wax it. You must let it grow in, but can shave it if it's that bad. The roots have to be there in order for the laser to work. The hair also has to be dark in color for the best results although I hear that they've perfected it more these days. Again, worth every penny!!!

Yup. Got the mustache--now I'm waitin for the full beard! Thank you, mom.
I've been thinking of the laser thing. I tried waxing but that's just too messy. He!!--you might as well shave the d@mn thing!

I'm a tweezer kind of girl...Thank goodness I only get a couple, but those couple are dark! I have one in the bathroom AND in my purse!!

Hi Sparrow,

I can totally relate. I actually have my upper/lower lip, chin and under my chin waxed every 4 weeks. I'm not a candidate for laser hair removal since the hair is blond. I also looked into electrolysis but it was too expensive for me and would take a year or more for complete hair removal and no growth.

I once had a dark hair about 3/4" long under my jaw. It got that long because I never noticed it, then one day, I was looking in the mirror and just happened to turn my head "just right" and saw what I thought was a stray cat hair? An eyelash? But it was attached! I plucked that thing lickety split, and kept an eye on it from then on, having to repluck twice more. Later got another one on the other side. Plucking worked, they never came back.

BUT the whole traumatic experience (what if someone else SAW it before I did? Horrors!) I picked up one of those facial trimmers (Emjoi) and use it whenever I see fuzz around my mouth (very light hairs, but I want NO hair on my face!). It doesn't make the hair thicker or "beardlike" at all, it's easy to use, and you don't have to wait until the hair grows in (I couldn't stand waxing for that reason).

Women with hair under their chins (or worse, a "mustach") grosses me out about as much as men with a "nose mustach"--hair growing out of their noses! Even if it is me!

<---Wants to know where Kathryn got her Emjoi & how much they cost???

<---Knows this isn't the "<---thread"! :7

I got mine at QVC a couple of years ago. The site that Barbara posted doesn't seem to have it (though the 'rip the hair out by the roots' things work too, but you have to let the hair grow to a certain length to use it.)

I've seen similar devices to mine at Walgreens, and on QVC and HSN. They are usually called "facial trimmers."

Thank Barbara! I appreciate that. I'm hoping Kathryn sees this because I am confused which kind as most look like razors. Thanks so much for your help! I'll check them out again.

Ha Kathryn! Posting at the same time, eh? Thanks, I'll go check out our Walgreens. The facial trimmers sure sound a lot less painful then the rip-your-hair-out ones. YIKES! Thanks a zillion!
