The Anna Nichole Story.

While I understand we are all weary of the media attention given to this poor creature, I was struck tonight watching Fox News coverage on the whole thing.
Being a former drug addict ( I have 15 years clean!) I was reminded how horrible addiction really is, and how lucky I am to have survived it.
When I ran out of money I had to get clean, or start doing things to get money that I wasn't willing to do...
and bought my first bodybuilding book by Corey Everson. I put down the drugs and picked up the weights, and have not stopped since.
I realize this may be more info than I needed to share, but I guess it just makes me grateful that whatever it was inside me that chose life, was a stronger force than the drugs that were destroying me.
Dont' you wish Anna Nichole (could have) and poor Britney would get a hold of some Cathe workouts, a good support group and realized how great you feel when your body is strong and healthy...you feel powerful and realize you are in control of your future, you begin to take responsibility for your actions and it actually feels wonderful.
I guess my point is this...I understand drug addiction and how it will destroy your life (famous or not) and am thankful today that I somehow managed to get out of the madness and am still discovering stuff about myself that the drugs hid from me.
Anyway, sorry if this was too heavy--or I sounded like the Florida judge but I think all of us can relate to this craziness on some level...thanks for listening.

Amongst all the hoopla and ridiculousness that is the Britney-Show and all the media coverage dedicated to Anna Nicole Smith, there are some very real underlying issues with drug abuse/addiction that will hopefully inspire others (who have the same addictions) to clean up their act.

Congratulations to YOU though for cleaning up your life and surviving the downward spiral. It is an honor that you shared this story with us and that you sought to fill your life with something positive rather than self-destructive.

It makes me feel wonderful to read about your victory!!!:)

Now...if I can just get over my pasta addition.....}(

Tneah,

You have my great admiration for finding the strength to turn your life around! The little bit of clinical work I've done with addictions and recovery during nursing school has taught me how very difficult it is to do what you've done. And I agree with your thoughts about celebs and their public struggles, how much we wish for them that they could find the same key. I guess it proves that money really can't solve all of our problems -- and that addiction can happen to anyone.

Thanks for sharing your story, and best wishes!
Allison

Congratulations to you, too, for changing your life for the better... and leaving drugs behind you.

Seems to me, at least in the case of Britney, some of these people need someone to literally lead them by the hand into a rebab facility... and stay be their side so they complete the treatment. Maybe when you get to be that famous and rich, you just don't know who to trust anymore?

Congrats again to you!
