That sneaky Circuit City

I went out and bought the Windows Vista Premium Home upgrade the other night from Circuit City. Nowhere in the store did they advertise a $40 mail-in rebate and the salesperson never mentioned it. Luckily, I just so happened to see it online!

That just ain't cool. x(

It was probably an online ONLY sale. Circuit City does that all the time x(.

How do I know this? I wanted a portable DVD player and found the exact model I was looking for on sale on their website. I drove over to the store to buy it and noticed that it was marked at the regular price. When I asked about it, the sales clerk told me I would have to buy it online in order to get the sale price. They will let you pay for it online and then pick it up in the store so that's what I did. I almost never shop at Circuit City anymore. They don't care at all about customer service. I never would've known about the sale price had I not seen it online.

The same circuit city that laid off 3500+ employees and immediately offered them their jobs back at a reduced salary while paying their CEO bonuses.

Yeah, the same Circuit City that won't let you return expensive electronics that are defective without charging you a "restocking" fee of 15%. They will, however, replace your item with another like it, or one of the same value. But you will not get a 100% refund. It's stated on the BACK of the receipt (in fine print). Just another one of those things that they don't tell you about. Then they fold the receipt up with the sale information showing, so you aren't even aware that there is anything printed on the back.

They are sneaky. Once I bought a TV set for "0 financing for a year" that is good for me I know I'll pay it off in a year. When the first statement came it was some 20 % or so interest. It took me an hour on the phone to straighten it out. You really have to watch them. The guy was apologizing for the "error" on the phone, and I was so tempted to say "good try buddy" but I didn't.

I'm ashamed to say that that company is based in my city. It was okay when it was just a small company, but the bigger it gets, the greedier it becomes. It makes me sick when I see it, and companies like it, leave their employees out in the cold, while the big boys are getting millions in compensation. The weird thing is, there was an article about how sales were up for the company....and who did they layoff? Their sales force!!!!
