Thanksgiving Day Challenge Results...

O.k., Ladies! I put a challenge (run/walk your local Turkey Trot) on the table last week, now I want to here the results! Tell me all about your Turkey Trot experiences! I'll start...

Huge wind gusts, snow coming down like crazy, cold, slushy, icy (Cleveland area)...it was not only the most challenging 5 Miles I have ever run but by far the most FUN! It was GREAT! My time suffered a tad due to the conditions but who cares when you are having that much fun...that's the whole point...FUN!

I hope yall had as much fun as I did! Do tell!!!

I didn't run as I said I would, because we had incredibly icy roads and sidewalks yesterday (and still today, though now they're covered in snow too!). Instead, I did A-Jock's Satan's Mish-Mosh, which consists of Rhythmic Step warm up, Body Max Power circuit segment, and the Gauntlet cardio from Cycles 2 through 6, pausing between each Cycle to bang out either 32 barbell squats or plie squats, or barbell lunges, and finished with 16 barbell squats, 16 barbell plie squats and 16 barbell lunges per leg.:)

That would do it Shelley! Holy smokes! I'll have to try that one too. I did A-Jock's Turkey burner, but a day late. I definitely made up for it!! That was fun, fun, fun!

Well what I did is in no way a comparasion of what you all did but at least I got moving. LOL I took my 4-year old for a walk after we ate. We went about a mile but it was soooo cold, windy and snowing.

Dana - taking a four year old for a mile-long walk is no mean feat. I'm sure it probably took you about three hours with all the stops to look at leaves, snow, rocks, drains, twigs, etc.:)

I ran the Gallop and Gorge 8K in Carrboro NC. It was sunny and 45 degrees, so other than being at 8 am, it was wonderful.

Sounds great, Magambo. I'm confused. Since when do you need to lose weight or did you just get jealous of those cute little weight tracker thingies??

I don't know about a turkey trot, but I did ALL the squats and plies on Power Hour (okay, most)!

Hats off to all you runners. Especially the ones who have enough gumption to do it in bad weather. Same goes to anyone who does anything with Aquajocks signature on it. You are some tuff ladies.

I ran my 8 mile Turkey Trot. It wasn't cold but it was foggy. I surprised myself at how good I felt and how fast I ran. When that was done I came home and cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people. My kitchen was finally restored to it's natural state at 9:30 last night. So, in addition to the fast 8 miles I ran in the a.m., I worked very hard for the entire day. And, I ate REALLY bad.:)

Well I didn't run either, but I did do the 90 min SB/SJP cardio combo. It was a great long workout for turkey day!

I did zero. It was not icy here, it was about 72 degrees but I had to cook and clean the whole thing up myself (I can do it better by myself) but today I did P0x Legs section and Muscle Endurance. I feel great!

After waiting a few hours after eating I did the Viper. It was just perfect for me...not to much cardio or heavy weights and Thankfully NO ABS.!!! Peggy

Thanks for asking Nancy. Yes, I do like the little tracker thingies, but I've had the same 10 lbs of thigh jigglies hanging in there for years. It's just infuriating how hard it is to keeeeel the evil things. If I could manage to have smooth legs I'd know I was hallucinating, but I can't help trying. x(

Well since running is out of the question, I got on my bike and did my own version of an evil mish mosh with 4" intense spinning intervals followed by 16 Leg press per side with light weight and then a compound exercise and an upperbody endurance exercise. I repeated the cycles 5 times through with a different compound exercise and a different upper body exercis to hit all areas fairly. I ended with my own tough abs sequence and stretch.

Why didn't I just play the Gauntlet you ask? Because my DH was on TM in same room watching football!!

I did a 6 mile interval run on the TM yesterday before cooking. This morning I had a wonderful long outdoor run of 10 miles with plenty of hills. I would love to have participated in a turkey trot but there were none close enough to where I live. I am doing a half marathon Dec. 4th...my first and I'm very nervous!

Wow Sarah! I'm very impressed. As an Ohioan, I don't know HOW you did that in yesterday's weather. What, do tell, was harder for you then that? Our weather the past two days was and still is horribly cold and icy. You go girl. I did my workout indoors! :7
