First of all, I missed you guys! I just got back from a 2 week trip to California. I climbed Half Dome with 3 guys (one a marathon runner, one a soccer player) and made it to the top first! My husband said to me afterwards, "Sweetie, I might have to try those step tapes of yours because you kicked my butt!" It was completely exhilirating. I found myself missing my Cathe tapes while I was there, but I still got plenty o' exercise. Just wanted to say that 6 months ago I couldn't climb up 3 flights of stairs w/o gasping for breath. But because of Cathe's incredible workouts and the great support & advice I receive from this forum, I climbed a mountain! El Capitan - here I come. Just kidding! I love being fit!

That is sooooooo cool. With 3 kids here, I'm envious that you even got to leave the house, much less climb a mountain!!!!!! WOW!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-11-02 AT 09:05PM (Est)[p]Hi!! How exciting for you!! I went to Yosemite last October, but the trail to Half Dome was already closed for the season. My husband and I plan to go back in the next few years with the intention of climbing Half Dome. I was wondering if you could give me some details. How long is the trail?? Is it an overnight trip or can it be done in one day (of course that depends on how many hours of daylight)?? What do you suggest to prepare for the climb as far as "must haves" in my backpack?? How many hours did it take for the round trip?? Thanks for any and all info you can give me!! I dont know anyone else who has made the climb so I dont have anyone to ask these questions!!

Thanks again,

Stacy

Hi Jillybean,
I think we were in Yosemite around the same time!We were there June 4-6, and stayed near the park at "The Redwoods at Yosemite". Isn't the scenery awesome! I didn't realize you could climb a trail to go up there. (Not that I would attempt that with all my kids with me.) My husband and I want to come back, alone, and really explore the park one day. It appears to be a hiking paradise. Three days was not enough time. We spent May 30-June 6 in CA as part of our "journey across America" trip. As in, we left MD on May 18, and have driven across the United States and are now on our way back. I'm e-mailing from Jackson Hole WY, getting ready to explore Yellowstone today. Did you go to other places in CA, or did you stay in Yosemite? (We went to the usual touristy places, Universal Studios, Hollywood, etc.)

We stayed with my brother and sister in law in San Jose. We went to San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Paulo Alto, and Sacremento. It was so much fun! We were there the same time. Yosemite is incredible. So worth it! I kept thinking getting to the top of that mountain better be good. Boy was it! Hope you had a great trip!
