Thank You to Cathe!

Cathe,

Know you're busy with new DVDs/Videos (I'm already pre-sold for 'em and can't wait to get them), but I wanted to say thanks for you tapes and your workouts! I ran the Baltimore Marathon last Saturday, and I never would have thought that was something I could do. Your tapes boosted my fitness and my strength and my attitude. While training for the marathon, I did not get to do as much step as I had previously, but I still used all your weight workouts. Your tapes got me to a place where I could realistically branch off to actually do something like this... and I am not a jock. I've never run before. Just wanted to say thanks for bringing such great workouts to "the masses." It is appreciated and what you do and the attitude with which you do it makes a difference in some very real and special ways to a lot of us out there! Especially those of us who might never, ever brave a gym!

BTW, finished in 4:26 (and like 40 seconds)!

Take care,
Zoelda

Wow! Zoelda, congratulations on the marathon!!! That's awesome. A lot of hard work and preparation went in to what you did :)

I totally agree on everything you said about Cathe and her workouts. She truly inspires us to work harder and do more. I have honestly never enjoyed or looked forward to workouts until Cathe's. In my opinion, she truly is the best!

Zoelda, what an incredible accomplishment! Congratulations! To think of running for four hours is unbelievable, I am so impressed with your endurance. I cannot imagine the amount of training that went into the race. Way to go! Heather

Thanks Dee! Thanks Heather! It was a lot of work, but it was a very special day for me. It was very liberating to have a goal in my life that was not appearance/weight defined. It meant I didn't have to exercise because I wanted to lose weight... if I ate a container of B&J's and a dozen cookies, well, I still had to run the next morning because the marathon had nothing to do with whether or not I had managed myself in some perfect/idealistic/ultimate image. All I had to do was run... it was seperate from all the other issues that clog things up. Did I lose weight training for a marathon? No. I didn't. I stayed within the same 5 pounds or so. Could I get away with eating a lot more food before it would start to register on the scale? Hell, yes!!!! Am I in better cardiovascular/endurance shape than I've ever been before? Absolutely. The hardest thing to do was to give up weight lifting w/Cathe for about 3 weeks as part of my rest/taper before the big day. I totally, totally missed that!

Now I'm really impressed knowing that you have to obstain from Cathe for 3 wks :O

Seriously, I am impressed with your dedication and determination :)

I'm so impressed!

Not only for the massive accomplishment of completing a marathon (I did the NYC marathon in '96, so I know how you feel) but also for the wonderful attitude that you exude. Great job.

I had to respond to this post because your words about Cathe are so perfect. I'm especially fond of this part:

"...what you do and the attitude with which you do it makes a difference in some very real and special ways to a lot of us out there!"

How true! How incredibly, amazingly, wonderfully true. I echo your sentiment wholeheartedly!

Congratulations again!

Hello Zoe,

Can you give us a break down of your training regime for the marathon? I would dearly like to try for a marathon in the future.

I am currently not running much (maybe 2 runs a week) because of the weather and also because I keep getting leg pains if I run consecutively. I would like to know how a novice runner can overcome this problem. I am convinced that I may need better cushioned shoes as I ran in the gym yesterday and there is hardly any pain today.
