Tell me About Your Reebok Step

With all this talk about steps, I wanted to ask you guys a question. For those of you that have a Reebok Step, does you step make a loud "popping" sound when you step on it at just the right place? I was doing Stepfit the other day and you should have heard my step! It kept making the loudest popping sounds! :+

Madonna,

Yes, my Reebok Step makes the same popping sound. Usually when I'm doing a side step facing to the right side. Weird! I always expect my DH to come in thinking I fell or something. I've had mine for about 7.5 years now and it always has made this noise. It also looks pretty much the same as it did in the begining! They sure made a good product.

I was recently wishing it WOULD wear out because then I could get the "club size" STEP that everyone else has (and Cathe uses in her videos) because they are a couple inches longer. Oh well, I'll probably wear out long before my step! :)

Hi Madonna!

I've had my Reebok Step for the past 2 years and luckily mine does not do any of the popping sounds you described.

Mine does this too. Always a shock. But mine is also very old..about 10 years and other than this strange sound it is still going strong.

Madonna,
Mine does this also, usually when I'm doing plyo moves right in the middle of the step. The first time it happened I thought it was going to bust in 2! But that was 8 years ago and it is still going strong. Don't know why it does that but has never appeared to be weakened or defective.

I have the Reebok step and mine doesn't make those sounds. What size Reebok step do you have? I know there are two, a black and grey one and a shorter blue and black one. The one I have (black and gray) is approximately the same size as the "club size" step mentioned above.

I have the black and gray Reebok "club" sized one also, and it does not make any noises. I got it about 3 months ago at Sportmart. I'm very happy with it.

I forgot to say, one thing I really like about my reebok step is that you can pick it up and carry it as one piece since the bottom pieces lock in (not tightly) to the board.

Hi Madonna:

I've got the long black and grey Reebok step. No, I don't hear any loud popping sound and I've had mine for about 4 years.

I really like my Reebok. I find it very stable and don't have to worry about the risers shifting when I'm stepping "hard", or that I'm not fitting them to the platform correctly. I had a Bollinger step that looks identical to The Step, but I gave it away to my sister after a few weeks. I just didn't feel safe because the platform kept on shifting on the risers. I also found it made far too much noise on impact (risers and platform clapping together). Maybe The Step is different - maybe the risers lock in more securely? The locking feature in the Reebok is a selling point for me.

Anyway, if you're thinking about purchasing a Reebok step, I really recommend it.

Hi Guys:

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one that has the problem popping sound. I have the club size black and grey step and have had it for about two years now. It is a very nice piece of equipment. Very sturdy and well made, however, I thought I was tearing it up. It makes the popping sound the most when I jump on top of it, like if I do a V up with a jack and a knee.
