Teen Boys that don't get fat?

How is it that alot of teen boys do not get fat and skip breakfast and eat only one meal a day? When they do eat, it is ice cream or pizza, etc. They are starving so should be storing fat, right? So how come I see some of them with defined abs and sculped arms? Metabolism is high maybe, but wouldn't they be storing fat at a faster rate? Just don't understand. If I did this, I would be a whale. LOL!

Teen age boys have Growth Hormone to help them to keep growing those muscles and elongate their bones etc. The presence of GH takes up many many calories to do it's job. I just shake my head at my two teen age sons when they get hungry ant eat like no tomorrow.

That's interesting, but makes me mad as heck!!!! They lay around and eat badly and whenever and get lots of muscle and definition!

My boyfriend is still like that and he's 31. He eats chocolate bars every day and drinks soda and does a push-up once every 3 months and he has wicked arms and pecs.

I'd hate him if I didn't like him so much;)

Not true for all boys. My oldest son is overweight and has been for quite a while. My youngest son, however, is very toned and thin. This can also be true for girls. I was like that. I ate terribly throughout my teenage years and was very very tiny. I stayed tiny until I was about 37 and now I have to watch almost everything I eat. I still think I eat more than a lot of women my age, but I definitely have to be more careful.

Give them about ten years and I'll bet they start gaining weight!

My son is 14 and he's always eating. He eats breakfast every morning, lunch at school, dinner at home and snacks in between. He was getting a little pudgy so I banned regular soda and the weight came right off. I think since he's still growing, he just needs a lot of calories.

My brother was the same. He swam competetively from about 5 years til 15/16. The second he stopped - splat! The weight piled on. He's lost a ton of weight over the last couple of years and is now an exercise fiend!

My sis, on the other hand, could slip sideways through a crack in the door. She eats whatever, whenever, does no intentional/formal exercise and has always been a rail.

Nah, more than 10 years. DH did not start putting on weight until around 39 and still is not as heavy as most men(32 waist).

DS is skinny and has bad eating habits, although he was a competitive swimmer for years, so that helped.

I hear ya! My ds (15) eats constantly! The other day he came home from school and ate a piece of pound cake, 2 pieces of german chocolate cake (homemade from mil for dh's birthday), a yogurt, a granola bar and a bowl of cereal. Then he went to workout (he has a Gold's Gym weight machine). I said that was a nice pre workout snack. Then he had a protien shake and a full dinner. Came out later and showed my how loose his jeans are getting. "I just can't keep them up" he says x( He is very defined and muscular. I hate it.:+

I'm glad that you posted this because I've been concerned about my boys. Two of them eat constantly. They're not overweight, but they aren't that active this time of the year either and I worry about whether they are eating because they need to or if it's a bad habit. I try to make sure that they are eating healthy foods, but they eat so much that we eventually run out of healthy foods and then they move on to the snack foods. We're going on vacation soon and I think they are looking forward to the all you can eat breakfast buffet more than anything else. :p

And this depends on the individual. My 34 yr. old son started to put on weight when he was only 21. His brother (33)is still of average weight.
