I need help, I just got my certification to teach aerobics and have NO training!!! I was wondering if anyone knew of a 'teaching' video for teachers??? please help :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kari Anderson has one called Excellence in Aerobics produced by IDEA. I believe Collage video carries it. I am a group exercise instructor and actually was a director for a while. My advice to you is to know your music--the 32 count phrase--frontwards and backwards. Then plan out your choreography. I can wing it now but I got to be pretty good because for a couple of years I worked on my choreography before I went to class. If you don't have a solid routine with smooth transitions, inexperience will really show. Get rid of any choreography that is choppy or awkward. If you can't do it, the class will be less able to. It can be overwhelming in the beginning but once you know what to do it's absolutely a fantastic experience. Please let me know if there is any additional help I can give. Good luck, Cyndie

I know absolutely nothing about teaching, but you've already got a great mentor in Cyndie! I just wanted to say congratulations on your certification - I'm sure you worked very hard for it! :)

Amy,

I have Kari Anderson's Excellence In Aerobics and you can have it if you e-mail me your address. ( I was studying to teach four years and nine months ago when I got pregnant with my third child.) It's very technical and teaches how to put together a class from A to Z. It's yours if you want it. It's been gathering dust in my closet for a long time and I actually pulled it out a few weeks ago after years. Funny you should ask about one now:).

Hi, this is great information. I too was thinking about getting certified to teach. I live in a small town in Northern Minnesota and my teacher asked me if i'd be willing to get certified and teach. I don't think I'd be good enuf, but feel like it would be a good challange for me. I was wondering about help too, it's great to have this forum. Questions get answered before asking. :)
I'll check out those websites too!
Thanks, Kerri :)
