Tanning?

I just tried the Aucourant Tanning Lotion with applicator and it is one of the best tanners I have ever used. I live in Colorado so, due to the dryness, I put on some lotion first. You need to use the applicator which I like because it keeps your hands clean. It is pricey but worth it. It looks very natural.I bought it at tanforless.com and received it quickly.

As a former "sun worshipper" my best advice is to use a self-tanner regardless of the hassle. I am 42 years old and don't tan anymore. Even if I were to sit in the sun intentionally my skin doesn't tan nicely anymore. It blotches and freckles my arms and is very uneven and ugly. I have tiny little wrinkles around my eyes and have to hassle with moisturizers and wrinkle- minimizing creams. I have to watch my sun spots and moles carefully because I know they are a result of all the tans (and sunburns) I got in my teens and twentys. It makes me feel foolish to know my vanity did that to my skin. My mother tried to warn me too. She said "You'll be sorry someday" and I am.

I also am a sun worshipper--I wish I could say "was" a sun worshipper but unfortunately I still sit out every so often. I have cut back a huge amount though from what I used to do. My main reason is that I have ruined my skin through tanning. The tops of my thighs are showing dry, wrinkly skin and I am only 37 years old. I have been using self tanners now for several years but I still get a real tan when I go on vacation. I do use sunscreen but I still get a tan which means I am doing damage. I thoroughly recommend quitting the sun if you can or at least limit the amount of real tanning you do. Your skin will thank you for it!

Okay. So, I haven't been back to the tanning bed. Mostly because I had a minor surgery on my back but I am also listening to your comments. I am interested in the Au Caurant stuff. I've used Banana boat, Endless Summer, Ban De Soleil, Clinique, and Neutrogena. Endless summer gave me the best results but it takes me forever to apply it. I have to take a lot of time on my hands and feet. I have to wait for it to dry and then it comes off in 2 days. I always think it looks good until I get in the sun and then I can see all the places I messed up. My hands and feet always look dirty. I hate it. I'd rather be pasty I guess. At least I feel clean that way. So, how do you order Au Caurant and how do you get the starter pack with applicators? It is expensive right? How often must it be applied? If I could find one that was good and I only had to do it twice a week, that would be great.

To order Au Courant, go to the website tanforless.com. I am using the Instant Sunless Tanning Lotion and the sponge applicator. It goes on differently that other self tanners, its more like "painting" with the applicator, but once it dries it is a very nice color. Au Courant also has a website, I think it is aucourant.com which gives more information. You do need to wait a while to let it dry, but I think it is a good tanner, although it is steep in price.

Just wait til you're forty. I wear sunscreen every day. Tans just look stupid to me, like smoking. Well...that's a little extreme...but you know what I mean. I liked what someone said - paying with wrinkles and skin cancer just for vanity. Sounds silly. I just try to keep a vision of attractive, pale skinned women in my head...like Nicole Kidman. Didn't her pale skin look gorgeous in that peach dress that matched it at the Oscars? Also, I think of that china doll look. It's beautiful.
