Taking a Spill at Five Months Pregnant

Ladies,
Help reassure me that I'm fine. I'm five months along, and today I tripped and went down while walking a city street with my husband. I didn't hurt anything on me (except a skinned knee), but I am worried about the baby. I landed on my side not my belly. Unfortunately, I am travelling away from home for the next three weeks and cannot see my doctor. Has anyone fallen during their first trimester? What happened? Is this something I should be concerned about?

I continue to be amazed at all of the possible anxieties during pregnancy...

not sure how much reassurance i can give, but i fell once in my 1st trimester, then once at 6 mons - baby was fine both times. if it reassures you, though, call your doc. i think if you feel good, and have no bleeding though, things are most likely fine. remember, babies are really well protected in there! good luck with your pregnancy.

I fell when I was about 5 months with my daughter. I was really shaken up about it, but everything was fine. Like the other poster said, if you feel fine, then everything is probably okay.

I fell with my first pregnancy at 6 months pregnant. I slipped on some wet stairs and went the rest of the way down on my bottom/side. I was very scared. After I did that I had sharp pains 'down there' and got really scared and went to my doc. She said that I just stretched some ligaments 'down there' and that was the pain. Baby was fine. It is always scary when we fall, but like someone said above, those babies are very well cushioned in there and can take a few bumps and be just fine.

I fell during month 5 of my last pregnancy. Fell down stairs and landed right on my bottom and bounced a few times on my side. Baby was just fine. I called the doc and they said if I didn't bleed or cramp that there was little to worry about.

Thanks, everyone. I guess the baby is pretty well cushioned in there, so I won't worry. No warning signs have occurred. Last week, I thought I had some pain, but now I think it was just ligaments stretching. My belly has suddenly gotten so big in the last week!
