switching from Joyce Vedral to Cathe/ question??

Hi to all

I've been recently using Joyce Vedral's weight tapes. They're okay but she goes too fast in her tapes to lift heavy weights, plus her tapes aren't cheap. Although I do like that she splits her tapes in either upper or lower body tapes, so I can do upper one day and lower the next.
My question is how can I use Cathe's tapes in the same 2 day/upper/lower split routine??????. I don't have any of her videos right now. I can't really afford anymore afrter buying a few of Joyce's awhile ago. What Cathe tapes would you gys recommend???
Well I recently was given Cathe Maximum Intensity strength.

Any Advice?

The way the Maximum Intensity Strength workout is arranged, you can split the lower body routine and upper body routine into alternating days very easily; just make sure you warm up properly each time you do any strengthening routine.

If you prefer slower strength training, my suggestion for a future purchase is the Slow and Heavy Series; it REALLY slows up the reps so that momentum is completely taken out of the equation.

I also have some Joyce Vedral tapes. I never realized how sloppily they were put together until I started with Kathy Voight and Cathe. Vedral's workouts are OK for a beginner but her cuing is off and the video quality is poor. I think she has quite the nerve to charge so much for such poor quality, but thats capitalism for you! Her books, however, are excellent. They introduced me to weight lifting back in 1986. Today she is very fit for a 50-something. (She also has had breast augmentation along with Karen Voight.) Once you are able to do Vedral and it is no long a challenge give Cathe a try. It is definitely worth it!!

Jump in on the presale...

I know you said you weren't looking to spend any money right now but Cathe is having a presale on one set of new tapes that may suit you just fine..it's an upper/lower body split workout. Might be something worth jumping on now.

As far as already released...I really think you can't go wrong with any of Cathe's strength stuff and you can customize them all to suit your needs...especially if you have them DVD's..but if I had to choose one, my favorites is Pure Stength, it's a 3 day split and a pretty good intro into her split workouts.

RE: Jump in on the presale...

I like to do the upper body/lower body split, too, so I can work everything twice a week instead of only once. Here's another suggestion: Leaner Legs for lower body and Cathe's newly released CTX Upper Body.

I bought Joyce Vedral's book Weight Training Made Easy and really liked it. I emailed her and described my situation and my goals and she recommended I purchase the two tape Fast Forward set. Boy, was I disappointed. The pace is so fast, there's no way you can go heavy.

I've learned my lesson - I'm sticking with Cathe!

RE: Jump in on the presale...

I appreciate the advice from all. I like Joyce, but I just wish her videos weren't so poor. Her workouts are effective. She also introduced me to weight training for her books. Her books are excellent! I don't like the fact that she uses 12,15, and 20 lbs weights in real life but she'll use 2,3 , and 5 lbs weights in her videos. She goes faster with light weights. How come she wont use her real weights?? She probably would go slower if she used the weight she actually uses for real. I like to use heavier weights, but i'm afraid i might hurt myself trying to go at her speed in the videos and lift heavier. The only one that is really slow in her dynamic tension tape.
I just found out about Cathe and all the raves about her. I liked the clips. i like how Cathe isn't afraid to use real heavy weights in her videos. Her cuing is great too.
BUT exactly which one of her new videos on pre-sale that splits the upper body and the lower????

RE: Jump in on the presale...

Hi Somegurl~If you want to check out the new vids Cathe is working on, go to the "HOME" page and up in the right hand corner, there is info on the pre-sale. Click on either "videos" or "DVD's", whichever is your preference. It will take you to a page describing the workouts. The split tapes are called "Pyramid-Upper Body Split" & "Pyramid-Lower Body Split." Hope this makes sense! And, WELCOME!!!!
