Swimsuits - Holy Smokes!

So I went bathing suit hunting online last night, trying to get a jump on the old summer season. This is the first time I have had to look for a new suit in about four years because I love the suit I have (it's just too old now) and, even though I live in a beach community, I don't go to all that often, I think it's boring. Anyhoo, why do all the suits look like they were manufactured by a company called "Grannies and Ho's" ? I don't want a suit with knees, nor do I want one that looks like it will come flying off with one good sneeze. Anyone have a source for sporty two pieces with decent coverage?!

Try googling Anne Cole. She makes the BEST swimwear for women which does not look like it came out of the Granny Co.

I have also had good luck with Victoria's Secret, although I can no longer bear to order from them due to the post-order deluge of catalogs of nearly naked women!

Funny, as I read the title to your post, I was thinking "I need a suit that comes over my knees." So where do I find a suit with knees?!!!
Just Do It! :)

I second the Lands End idea...and just an FYI Sears carries Lands End, not sure if you have a Sears near you. Also most department stores have multiple styles to choose from. To tell you the truth, because I don't use bathing suits all that often I got mine from Target and I love it!!

Deni, Target is where I got the one I LOVE four years ago. They don't seem to have the style anymore, two piece with snug boy bottoms and a top that comes just above my navel.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'll have a look.

Sparrow, your post is making me want to take photos of people in Hawaii who demonstrate both extremes... grannies and hos.... LOL!!!

Sparrow,

They had those styles at our Target here. Have you looked recently?? I know I tried on some that were boy shorts bottoms and they had the tankini style top as well...they were halter style. If you haven't checked make sure to check it out...and if you have checked I'm not sure why they had them here and not there??? Weird. I got one with the more traditional style bikini bottom and I have to say it wasn't the "you need to get everything shaved off to wear it" style. It wasn't that really low cut bottom type. It's really comfortable and fits great!! Good luck with your hunt!!

Eddie Bauer has a few pieces that are mix and match. I'm certain you can get something like that there. Although you will pay through the nose.

I hear ya on this one. I have the same problem when shopping for swimsuits. I actually like to swim while wearing the swim suit and most of bikini's out there today...no way. One dive and it all would be at the bottom of the pool/lake.

I have bought swim suits from Title Nine and been very happy with them because they keep you covered and stay in place. I also canoe and kayak so a swim suit has to be more than just a string bikini to work for me.

It is extremely difficult to find a decent swimsuit that is somewhere between...Granny and Ho.

Adding: Absolutely, Nike does make some nice two piece suits that can move with you.

I agree. You don't have to wash your suit. You pack light. You don't have to worry about pulls in the seat of your swimwear. No tanlines. Um, you do sometimes meet people who really should be wearing swimsuitsx( and occasionally you get hit on. Ah, such is life.

Robin:)
