Sweets

Hi everyone I was just wondering if you have any suggestions about wanting sweets. What are some good and healthy snack not filled with sugar. I've been craving sweets and my husband eats junk food and cakes and I just want something healthy to eat that I won't feel guilty about afterwards.

Thanks

Hi Mrs. Porter,

A friend of mine introduced me to baby carrots and peanut butter. It's healthy and gives you the sweet boost you crave. Satisfying and tasty too.

I like to throw a bunch of fruits together and make a fruit salad. Sometimes I add some low-fat yogurt, it's yummy. I like to choose my favourite fruits like berries, pineapple, mango, banana etc. Great for your skin and diet!

I also like sherbet. It's tangy, sweet and much lower in calories than ice cream.

good luck!

Whenever you crave sweets, go for fruit.
Berries, apples and pears are good, low glycemic fruits that are tastey. If you need more sweetening on them, add a bit of agave nectar or stevia (but once you get used to 'naked' fruit, you'll find sweetened fruit too sweet).

Active yogurt and mix in whatever fresh fruit you like. The vanilla w/pineapple and strawberries mixed in is yummy:9

"Hi everyone I was just wondering if you have any suggestions
about wanting sweets."

After dinner I always get a sweet craving for dessert. What really does the trick for me is having a cup of peppermint herbal tea as suggested by another poster, (I believe it was Megadoo, thanks girl) And also cutting back on refined sugar which makes me crave more sugar, I try to eat fruit instead. HTH.

Mrs. Porter -

I by no means eat clean so if you are trying to do that this wouldn't be good- however I must have my sweets b/c I if don't allow myself something small daily I will just end up grumpy or on a rampage when I do finally give in. Anyway, I like No Pudge Brownies, they do sell them at Cub foods in the organic section & my health food store here so maybe they aren't bad... anyway, to make them you mix w/ yogurt & that is it I think. I never make a batch of them though b/c I'd eat the whole pan. check out www.nopudge.com to find out more, they only tell you have to make single serve "brownies" in the microwave, so that is what I do. I use dannon light & fit yogurt to mix w/ it and so good so let this be your "warning" if you do try them!!!

Personally, I don't really care for fruit but I eat it anyway. For a real treat I might have a little cookie with a 4oz glass of milk in the evening. Most of the time however, I do opt just to limit the sugar to my daily cup of tea.

For me the trick is to cut out all refined foods. I eat clean "as much as I can". I am however human too. BUT, when I've omitted all the junk out of my diet, I really don't crave sugary stuff. And if I am, I always grab a piece of fruit or make a fruit salad w/SF FF Van Pudding...YUM!!

A cup of herbal tea with a packet of stevia for sweetener. It tends to fool me. (To bad I didn't take my advice this evening, dang those M&M's.)

Hi there.

I love a mug of sugar free hot cocoa. I add cool whip sugar free.
I also keep in the house sugar free choolate either from the
grocery store or sometimes we buy homemade from a local Candy
Shoppe. The cocoa is filling particulary at night. It's empty calories but the cocoa does have calcium added and better than
cakes/cookies.

Honestly? I grab two or three Hershey Kisses, the rich flavor and the sweetness does the trick. And a few of them is not fattening at all! If I try to substitute, I wind up craving the real thing anyway, so a little bit of the 'good stuff" works for me everytime!
