Suzanne Deason Stability Ball Compilation

Hi everyone,
I just did this DVD, it was very simple and I enjoyed the slow pace. This is a great nighttime, before bed workout. Is there another one that is a bit more challengng that anyone can recommend? I really like how it opened up my back! But, my son did say "that's NOT Cathe." I feel like I got caught cheating!

Hi, Dawn:

Have you tried Gin Miller? She has a couple. I like the one I have; I think it's called "on the ball" or something like that. It's pretty challenging. She has a good website. Just do a search for Gin Miller.

Moira Stott has a few new workouts. One uses the ball to perform exercises normally performed on a Pilates reformer. Two are matwork exercises done with the ball. If you liked Deason, you'll probably like Stott.

If you're familiar w/ Pilates, you recognized that Deason's ab work is Pilates. I have the compilation tape & the ab workout. The full ab workout is a bit more challenging & includes the bent leg pike exercise that Cathe has in PUB. It doesn't have the full pike. Same beautiful Sedona Arizona setting.

There are a few threads at Video Fitness on the Stott workouts. I'm going to wait for the DVD version which I read is coming out this spring.

Is Deason good? I have seen a lot of her workouts but haven't tried any of them. Which would you recommend for the ball workouts? Does anyone have the yoga for weightloss DVD with the 4 modifications?

I like Deason but she is very low key (as is Moira Stott) so she won't appeal to everyone. Deason's ball workouts are very relaxing with some balance work & solid ab work. It helps to be familiar w/ pilates to get the most from her ab work.

The Stott ball videos look like they're solid core training.

I do have the misnamed Yoga for Weightloss video. It's a nice intro to yoga which I use for flexibility work. Slow paced, as you noted w/ 4 levels demonstrated. It has some very easy ab work which I usually skip or just consider part of the relaxation. Like the ball workouts, it's filmed outdoors in Sedona Arizona but in red rock country (the ball workouts look like they're filmed in Oak Creek Canyon).

I think Deason's reasoning in calling this yoga video a weight loss tool is that if you can connect your mind & body, you'll become more self-aware & therefore become more careful about your body's needs. She has a similar titled Pilates video, I suspect it's the same premise.

I'm a morning person, & like to do my hard-core workouts early. I like low key workouts in the evening, stretching, easy yoga, pilates. So Deason & Stott both work for me.

I got Deason's stability ball workout tape as a package deal when I bought my ball. Haven't tried it yet, since I've been too busy with my new Cathe DVDs. However, I really like Deason in "Yoga for Stress Relief." It's a great, flowing yoga routine that relaxes you and works the kinks out. Only takes about 20 minutes, too...
