I've been deluged that last day or 2 with suspicious emails and they all have zip attachments. I've gotten several that say they are from the FBI and that they have traced my IP to 30 illegal websites so I need to call them, and another one that says something like "sorry, we were unable to deliver your mail". It's crazy. I don't know when I've ever been hit with so much crap email. Is this happening to anybody else?

Michele, I haven't heard about that one but I there's another one going around, telling people they have e-cards and to click to retrieve them. Beware!

yes this one runs along the same as the one i got yesterday about an email change and they want you to download a zip file or fill out info. its worm and just report it to your ISP and delete it. it will also fall under the paris hilton virus here is an article about it.

Thanks Sparrow and Kassia. I just delete them but it's so aggravating. I'm so sure the FBI would email me if that thought I was engaged in illegal activity:7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

I have gotten one about 30 times in the last day that says "Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie" that is blocked by the virus software at work.

I haven't been in the office to check my email for several days, but I'm sure I'll have a mailbox full of crap like this (probably around 200 messages, of which 20 are actually valid messages to me from someoone. The rest of which are spam, or attempts at putting a virus on my computer.)

I don't think the FBI would email people! If they thought you were doing something illegal, they'd show up (like they did at our university when some idiot student emailed "joke" threats to the president from a school computer).
 
The FBI has posted that it is a hoax.

In my younger days of hacking, I witnessed how the law enforcement community handles illegal activities.

They show up at your door with a warrant and they take EVERYTHING electronic as evidence. They leave as business card or they take you with them.

If you open that attachment your computer is going to get infected.

And don't send money or your paypal acct number to the Nigerian Oil minister!!!!

I've gotten most of these on my work computer. The FBI one cracks me up though. Rest assured, if the FBI needs to talk to you, esp. about illegal activities, they aren't going to be emailing you!
 
my former landlord fell for the lottery one. she though sending someone she didn't even know money, and this person in turn would send a $5000 check. she seriously got screwed on that, man her hubsand was ticked off when he found out.she was even writing checks on the money she thought was in there and wound up overdrawing checks. i don't think he has gone another vacation since LOL.

Yup, Michele, everyone's getting 'em. I got the same ones you got. My DH, the computer nerd, says DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT OPENING THEM in his fiercest possible hubbybear voice. Dave, ROFL!! :D
 
I've gotten those, too, as well as some fabulous new Paris porn video. LOL. Needless to say I'm not opening any of them!
 
You know when I got my first anti-virus protection, I'd open them up on purpose just so I could see the protection work. Now the protection has changed so work and scans them before I even get to open them. Now I can't see them cleaned off. Boo hoo!
