A survivor here, posting to say please think before you pink:

If at all possible, please give directly to organization that directly benefit breast cancer causes and the women whose lives are affected. In our house we give to Y-me (y-me.org) and the the American Cancer Society (because all cancers need acure). Another good one is the Breast Cancer Fund ( breastcancerfund.org).

I was astounded/sickened at the glut of sponsorship at the Komen Race for the Cure in D.C. last year and I wondered how much of the money actually gets to the women who need it most: women who don't have insurance, etc., not the pampered lucky souls like myself. In fact, as we walked from the Metro Station to the start line, proudly sporting my pink shirt, my husband and I passed two homeless women crouched in a doorway and I said to my husband, "Who takes care of their breasts?"

I mean, if McDonald's really *cared* about our health, wouldn't they just close?

Wow, that's amazing. Thanks for the link. I feel like the "pink" craze has gotten a little out of control in recent years. People use it more now just as a marketing tool than anything else.

Before I donate my hard earned money to ANY organization, I thoroughly investigate the charity so I know exactly where my money is going. Susan G. Komen For the cure carries the highest rating at both Charity Navigator http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4509 (even slightly higher than Y-ME ;) ),
and Give.org http://charityreports.bbb.org/Public/Report.aspx?CharityID=3432

Yeah, all the pink stuff can be a bit annoying, but this is a GREAT organization and you can be sure that your money is going where they say it's going, and not into the pockets of their executives.

As for McDonald's, well, just talk to anyone who needed the services provided by Ronald McDonald House. Yeah, their food isn't good for you, but it's a fun treat once in awhile. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you eat there. ;)

Excellent websites!

But then again, the new reality for me is that I live with the possibilty of cancer recurrence as a daily gun-to-my-head, McDonald's or not.

Anyway, we were talking about pink steps?

Going back to the step - I wanted to emphasize that IS the smaller home version of the step, not the full size, which I think is absolutely worthless, especially if you're going to do Cathe's workouts on them.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am still fairly new to Cathe and step so I don't think it is worthless. Cathe uses the smaller version in Body Fusion and Low Impact Step.

Sharon

Well, my opinion, of course, but I can tell you that if you continue to do Cathe's workouts, you're going to outgrow this step pretty quickly which is what happened to me.

I paid $40.00 for this smaller version and ended up having to spend another $80 for the full sized.

Just trying to save you some money.

I appreciate your advice. I am definitly rethinking. I will admit, I was pulled in by the color of the step. I hadn't realized that breast cancer awareness has become a marketing gimmick for alot of companies.

Thank you.

Sharon

I know! I was really excited about the pink step too, at first!

I apologize for belaboring this issue, but I remembered yesterday another reason why I was so disappointed with that small step - it does not have the sticky black surface and I almost slipped on my sweat!
