Sure Fit Slip Covers - have you used them?

I just got my sofa and love seat cleaned to the tune of $318 (ouch). Today in the mail I received a surefit catalog. The pictures of the make overs look great. I was wondering if anyone has tried them and what your experience has been. I have visions of constantly tucking and smoothing the cover every time I get up from the sofa. Is that what has happened to you?

I'm considering the new cover that has stretch fabric and comes in 3 pieces to give the sofa a more custom look.

I'd be interested to hear anyone's experience with Surefit or any other covers for that matter. Thank you.

I've gotten several and they work pretty well. I do have to tuck them in on the sides & the back every day, but we have a 100# dog that spends a lot of time on the couch (which is why I needed covers in the first place).

I know that there are attachments that you can buy to help the cover stay tucked in; there is also a recommendation that you can tuck a rolled up magazine in the back to help it stay put. I didn't think I'd like that any better than just tucking it in.

The best part for me is being able to take them off and wash them whenever necessary.

Hope this helps,
Ramona

I've gotten them before and they lasted about a year or so before I got so sick of fiddling with them. You do have to adjust them quite a bit so if that sort of thing bothers you, I would think twice. Also I thought they only looked nice right after I had to tuck them in, otherwise they tended to look sloppy. They do make them look nice in the catalog though. Personally, I think the only slip covers that look good are the ones made specifically for that piece of furniture. Of course this is just my opinion.

I have the Sure Fit stretch one on my sofa and I love it. It only requires a little adjusting every couple of days but that's mostly from my dog spending her days on it. (That's why I had to buy one, too!)

I bought mine from their outlet store on eBay. I think I paid about $30. I didn't have the heart to tell my friend who bought hers at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $100 a few months ago.

Good luck!

This has been my experience as well. So they just end up looking like you're trying to cover a crappy looking sofa.

ETA: that's an awful lot of money just for a sofa & loveseat. I live in a pretty expensive area & it never costs me more than $200 for a cleaning (usually more in the $160 range). Before you invest the slipcovers (which aren't cheap either), why don't you get some estimates from other cleaners?

I got them for an old couch a few years back, and was CONSTANTLY tucking them back in. I got pretty obsessive with it, they drove me CRAZY!!!

I had to get a new couch or get a therapist, I swear!

I think "sure fit" is a load of *&#$!!

LauraMax - its too late. I already had them cleaned by a company called Zero Res. They quoted me that because my set has loose pillow backs. That price also included protection and a speed dry process. It was a lot more than Coit charged me about two years ago.

Thanks.
