Did Anone see this on Discovery Health last night.
Ok ladies I want to be fit and cut , but wow.
These women were ripped like men. Big time.
They were like womens heads on mens bodies.
They had wrinkled faces and zits.
The zits tell me they are on a legal type steroid.
They have to be taking some type of stuff to get that big.

It was gross.
The black lady that won had the biggest legs . I mean Arnold body on her.
My brother in law is 52 and he is big. These women put him to shame.
Ok.
Who wants to look like this???

My DH called me to the TV as he came across this program last night. He was amazed and grossed out at how large the women were. He commented that it would be like going to bed with another man. He did not find it at all attractive. He does like to see fit, muscular women (thinks Cathe looks great and feminine), but this was too much.

I have seen this show before. Those women were definitely on steroids. One of the girls parents said it without actually saying it.

It's way over the top...they look like men. I have a lot of muscle, but I have nothing on these women. I would NEVER want to look like that.

My 5-year-old thought that the pics that Dani posted in above link was that of a man in a dress. He didn't believe me when I told him it was a woman with gigantic muscles.:)

I saw it a month ago. They are turning themselves into men with the steroids. Plain and simple.

That woman with the biggest legs reminded me of a horse!! She had horse legs!!!

I did NOT see this show -- but it sounds like the typical woman bodybuilder. While I, personally, wouldn't feel comfortable being that big nor could I GET that big due to my genetics, lack of discipline, and no desire to take steroids...I find it fascinating.

I think they are beautiful -- just as all other people of all shapes and sizes are beautiful. I don't think they are gross. They certainly ARE NOT men. They have taken their "sport" (bodybuilding) to it's extreme -- which is what professional althletes are supposed to do.

Just as I would not tell an overweight person that they are gross because they are fat and I would not tell a skinny person that they are gross because they are too skinny -- I would not say these women are gross. I think it's interesting how we are so willing to attack someone else's idea of what THEY want their body to be like.

I admire their dedication.
I admire their persistence in the sport regardless of the fact that they get these kinds of comments.
I admire anyone who pushes the envelope and goes against the naysayers.

Anyway...that's my .02 today.

Now I have to go work my gross biceps.

Shonie

Shonie girl, you have to see the show to understand. It isn't their muscle development that's gross. It's their voices, most of which were deeper than my dad's & brother's, it's their jawlines & foreheads, which expanded so much from steroid use they look like those caveman dudes on the Geico ads, it's their skin, which is broken out all over--not just faces but backs, arms, chests & god knows what else--from steroids, it's their DD implants that they have to get in order to still look somewhat female.

I admire dedication & persistence in anyone who works hard for it. But with everything, there's a point in which it turns from a hobby into an obsession (you certainly couldn't call this a profession--they make absolutely zero money for it). These ladies are totally obsessed. And their lifestyle is gonna kill them--with the up & down dieting, the steroids, etc., they're unbelievably unhealthy.

You have an awesome body & you did it the right way--a healthy diet & the right exercise routine. These women are doing it the wrong way, and for all the wrong reasons.

I'm telling ya, watch the show, it's a real eye opener.

I do admire anyone that works hard, but taking steroids is just wrong to me. I would rather see women push themselves to extreme without the roids...this way women can still look like women, like we are suppose to be, we can look strong and tough, just not unnatural looking from steroids.

I saw this show a month or so ago. I found it interesting from the perspective of not having had any idea what goes on in the female bodybuilding industry. It was enlightening.

It seems like the women become obsessed with increasing their size, proportionality, and definition, and will do whatever it takes to be the "best." Is it obsession or dedication? I'm not sure.

I find it sad that these women are obviously doing very unhealthy things to fuel their obsessions. I didn't see that woman eat one vegetable or fruit during the whole show, just meat and dried meat. There is no question about the steriod usage.

This is not something I would ever want to participate in.

I know this was a show about female body builders, but I find male body building just as "unnatural." I mean, how many men do we run acrossed in the course of a normal day that look like male body builders?

I don't find either "gross," just like Shonie, but I also don't find it "natural" or "healthy." I think anything can be pushed to its extreme and I think that is the case for both male and female body builders. However, that is EXACTLY what that sport is all about. Building your body to the extreme.

I honestly don't know if it is dedication or compulsion.

Shonie!!!!!! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!! You do not have gross biceps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are tres sexy if you ask me!!!!

XOXOXOXO

I agree with ivorygorgon.

I'm not sure anyone has ever claimed that bodybuilding is "natural" or "healthy". At least they shouldn't. So I'm not exactly sure where anyone got that impression. It is about building the most muscle, having the least amount of fat, and having all bodyparts symmetrical. Nothing about any of those things says "natural". And if it were "natural" or "healthy" or "easy"...well, then we'd all be bodybuilders.

As for the debate about "dedication" vs "compulsion" vs "obsession" -- all I have to say is: it's a very fine line. You tell ME the difference? Do people training for the Olympics get labeled as "compulsive" or "obsessed"? Do professional althletes? Some people on this forum could be considered "compulsive" or "obsessed" ... depending on who you ask.

Some people (men and women) like the look of a bodybuilder. I know it takes more than drugs to look like those girls. Sure, it helps -- but they work their asses off in the gym and outside of the gym scheduling every workout and every meal right down to every single gram of everything. It's not as if they take a pill or injection and magically become huge. I guess it just touched a nerve in me to see women referring to OTHER women as "gross" based on their bodies. And what may be extreme to US may not be extreme to someone else. I tan. Some people may think tanning is EXTREME and say "look at what she's doing to her body and how many wrinkles she has because of it and it causes her to breakout. HOW could she do such a thing to herself? She just looks gross!" I think some women here tan too -- which is NOT attractive to some other women.

I take offense at the comment "this way women can still look like women". What does it mean to "look like a woman"? It seems very limiting to me -- based on someone else's perception. For some reason, today is just a bad day for me. I'm sick of women taking down others based on their looks and then b*tching when someone does it to them.

Off my soapbox now.

Dani....Thanks for the XOXOXOXO :) You rock girl! Way to go on the marathon! I'm so proud of you.

Okay...back to nice Shonie...
Shonie

Awwww! Thank you Shonie! I think you stated your views nicely! Good points! Very well said!!

You are right! The one body builder on the SuperSize She show had her own website, because there are a lot of people who find her beautiful. She makes some good money off of it. I think it costs something like $400 per month/per person to join her site, if I remember correctly.

She is dedicated and works her butt off...that is true. She works very hard at it.

The woman who had muscles like a horse was the strongest looking woman I have ever seen. Wow!!! Wow! Wow! Just pure, pure muscle!!
That's all I could think of when I saw her legs. She was the winner of that big contest BTW. My mom has horses, and that's all I could think of when I saw her flex. I hope I didn't offend.

:)

Dani,
Don't be sorry if you don't find the women attractive. Beauty is an opinion. If one find Grace Kelly attractive, it doesn't mean the world finds her attractive. I personally find the female body builders like that disgusting mostly because they look 99% like a man. A bodybuilder like Rachel Mclish, Corey Everson, etc, I find them attractive and they have nice bodies. I'm sorry but I do not find these comic book characters attractive. It's just too much. JMO.

If you noticed the face of the Supersize woman, she looks like a man. Anyone can see that. Her face is hard and her voice is not of a woman's. Pretty clear to me. If I crossed a fine line, then next time I will just run over it instead. Geez!

In your pirate costume maybe?

Apparently you missed my point. But thanks for making it for me again.
