Good morning, all!

I'm less sore today in my butt from my two days of Slim Series, but my inner thighs are killing me. I did Hilary Burnett's Intermediate Pilates this morning, that clocks in at about 30 minutes. I love that DVD. She does a warmup, of sorts, and stretches at the end. Her voice is very calm, and she's in this old chapel with candles burning in back of her. I feel so relaxed when I'm finished. I'll also walk a mile or two at lunch, and that will be it for me.

Sabine, I need your help. Have you done Tear it Up or Shape it Up? What do you think of them? I had been planning to do Tear it Up tomorrow, and some cardio and stretching or yoga or pilates on Sunday, but my muscles feel sore in new and different ways from Tone it Up and Firm it Up, and I'm thinking of maybe doing them again on Saturday and Sunday. Any thoughts? I haven't done the two I asked about above, or Mix it Up either so far. If I go with my original plan of only doing one SS workout this weekend, I'd like to do one that really gets both the upper and lower body. Is one better than the other?

Vilma, I was almost born in Charlotte, NC. My parents moved to VA when my mom was 8 months pregnant. We did go back to NC, to Raleigh and then Durham, for about 6 1/2 years. I really enjoy the NC and SC beaches. I hope you're finding ways for your kids to do something and stay out of your hair!

I'll check in later to see what everyone has to say. In the meantime, have a good day!

Good Morning all,

For mid July it's a pretty overcast and cold morning here in the SF bay area. It was REALLY windy last night which made it that much colder. I actually had to bust out the microfleece blanket and down comforter to stay warm. And I'm in sweats this morning trying to stay warm too. Very strange! Especially since some of you have mentioned how unbelievable hot you are having it right now.

Anyway, today's workout was Slim Series Mix It Up and so far it is my least favorite of the one's I've tried. I found it to have way too much shoulder work that wasn't balanced out with the other body parts. And some of the shoulder work (like presses) was done double time. I'm sorry but even with light weights that's an injury waiting to happen so I just kept it at the regular pace.

Lisa- I hear you about Slim Series working muscles in a totally different way. Of the two you mentioned, I've only done Shape It Up which I liked a lot. I really felt this one in my quads though as it has some interesting floor work for the quads. I also like Shape It Up because it has a really good balance between the upper body, lower body, and abs (the standing ab segment is quite good). Doing Firm It Up again might be a bit much for the legs. I say go for Shape It Up and have a nice stretching workout planned for some time over the weekend.

For my weekend I'm planning on some sort of circuit workout tomorrow (Gay G's Greatest Step? Step Jump and Pump? Step It Strong?) and Cool It Off on Sunday.

Big hellos to everyone! Cindee, good luck on the continued training for the race. It's soon, yes? Good to see you around, Elizabeth. How's the golf going, Judy? Brenda, Joy, Lorihart, Pinky, and everyone else, hope to hear from you soon!

Sabine,

Thanks! That's what I needed to know! I think I will try Shape it Up tomorrow, and maybe get a Cathe cardio fix and some stretching on Sunday. I hope the weather warms up for you, and have a great weekend!

Yea!! I just finished a 3 hour Spinervals (Tough Love)...I am spent but so happy I finished it! I didn't do all of the standing stuff he (the coach, Troy Jacobsen) had in there and my cadence was often below his suggestions, but I tried to come close and I'm just happy to have not given up. My legs hurt. Tomorrow is a recovery day!:)

Sabine, you're right...the ride is a week from tomorrow. DH's brother and family roll into town tonight to see family before next Sat. (DH's bro is going with). We're excited and it'll be fun to be with lots of other riders, challenge ourselves a little, and see the landscape from a great vantage point.

Hey to everyone...blessings to you all!
