Suggestions for workout DVDs

I'm a man, which probably puts me in the minority of the forum members. I'm new here but not to Cathe workouts - I started with her step tapes 10 years ago.

I've taken a break from step workouts: my present aerobic workouts consist of treadmill, exercise bike and hill sprints. For strength, I lift fairly heavy weights, 3X per week. I work out at home: I've taken what I would have invested in a health club membership and invested it in my own home gym.

Last week, a friend gave me a weekend guest pass to her health club, where I took two exercise classes - one in "Total Body Conditioning" and one in Pilates (on the mat, not on the machine).

Those classes really wiped me out! The weights we used were not heavy (8-10lb dumbbells) but they were enough. Every muscle of my body was really worked! We must have done at least 200 ab exercises (crunches, legs lifts, etc) in each class, and I had to rest while most of the other class members (99% women) were cruising merrily along.

So I've decided that I need more workouts like these, in addition to my weight lifting and traditional aerobics.

So what Cathe workouts can you all recommend that would fit the bill for me?

Hi Bob,

It sounds like you want to go more with endurance workouts. One of Cathe's best is Muscle Endurance which also has Boot Camp on it. Muscle Endurance is one tough workout and the DVD has two excellent core workouts on it. For core work, you might also want to try Core Max which has three core routines on it - one without equipment, one with the ball and one with weights. You might also want to try the Power Hour/Maximum Intensity Strength/Body Max DVD. Power Hour is also endurance, MIS and Body Max a little more of a mix of endurace and moderately heavy weights. Body Max has a step routine, blasts with leg work, an upper body section, abs and stretch.

Hi, Bob

Welcome to the forum. Yes, we're in the minority, but the ladies here are great!

Marcy has some great suggestions. If you want an ab workout that wipes you out, try to complete all 3 workouts on Core Max consecutively.

A fantastic total body weight workout is Muscle Max. I love this one and it gives great results.

Boot Camp will definitely wipe you out...cardio + weights + core... all packed into an hour of very hard work!
