Suggestions for beginners step videos

Can anyone suggest some good, interesting, but basically simple step videos. I'm just finding out I can do step, but I need something with pretty simple choreography until I learn the moves. I'm doing Step Reebok with Gin Miller right now, but it's getting pretty dull (and it's so dark and depressing). I'm still a beginner, though. Not quite ready for stepping with Cathe yet (but I will be soon).

Any ideas?

The two I used after I got tired of the Reebok video were Keli Roberts' Ultimate Step and Kari Anderson's Fitness Formula. The Keli Roberts video has fairly simple choreography with some fun arm moves. There is a lunge section at the end that will help you build up to greater intensity. I don't remember much about the set, but it was "normal", not depressing. Fitness Formula is probably a little less intense but has slightly more complicated choreography and a pretty, airy set. I did this one this summer when I was recovering from an injury, and still found it fun. It also has a good ab workout at the end. Both instructors are very likeable and cue well, and Keli has a great Australian accent.

Another recommendation I've seen is for Kathy Smith's Step Workout, but I'm not familiar with it myself.

I actually started doing Cathe's step videos right after I got comfortable with these two. I started with PowerMax, even though the Wedding Video, Mega Step Blast, and Step Heat are usually recommended as first Cathe videos. (I didn't know this at the time!) I just put my step down one level from what I was using for Keli's and Kari's videos, and didn't have too much trouble except for the last section. So for me, these two videos were very successful as a "bridge" between the Reebok video and Cathe.

Good luck,
Audrey

Kathy Smith has an easy Step tape that might be a good one for you. Karen Voight's Energy Sprint is both easy in choreography and will give you a great workout. Candace Copeland also has a couple early step tapes that must still be available--maybe at CollageVideo. I also think Cathe's Step Heat, Megastep Blast and her Wedding Video might be okay for beginners.

I'd recommend Kathy Smith's Power Step workout, Candace Copeland's Step Ahead (pretty sure that's the name) and for more of a step/circuit workout, Karen Voight's Cardio Sculpt. If you havent checked out collagevideo.com or videofitness.com they're both excellent sites for video reviews and video clips (collage has the clips).

Gilad Step Aerobics on the Beach at Wakiki talk about a pretty video and Gil is good lookin too. Basic tapes will intro you very well into step too. He has 2 step videos.

Collage has them I think and Gilad has his on website you can order from and they have fantastic customer service too.

My vote is for Susan Powter's Burn Fat and Get Fit video (or Lean Strong and Healthy is great too). These are good because they are very simple and easy to learn, she gives tons of fantastic form pointers and reminders, and they're intense enough to challenge someone in the intermediate range.

Good luck!

Thank you, all of you, for your ideas. I'm placing my orders today. Can't wait to try out some new steps.
