Suggestions for a well endowed asthmatic...

Cathe (and anyone else who can help),

I have large breasts (which puts my heart rate into outer space) and have exercise induced asthma which makes high intensity cardio (and even some low intensity painful if not impossible). I have a good base of muscle and used to lift weights in the gym some time ago. I am currently using FIRM tapes but on suggestions from others, I want to give your workouts a try.

I am primarily concerned with losing inches and losing fat. Losing scale weight is a more secondary concern. I tend to be heavier anyway because of my muscularity. What types of videos and/or rotation would you suggest? I don't mind doing walking and some dance (hip hop style) workouts for cardio but jumping, running, hi intensity step exercise is out of the question.

Thanks for your input,

Donna:)

I too have exercise induced asthma. I think the best way to make your asthma better is by exercising more and at a higher intensity. I find that the better shape I am in, the better my asthma. Your body will begin to become less irritated by the intensity, as it will adapt over time.

Excercise is painful. You have to use your inhaler and work through it, that is what I have had to do. Take it in steps.

I am not sure what your level of fitness it, but I think a good tape to start with is Circuit Max. It is pretty advanced, however, you can modify if you need to.

I am sorry if this is not the answer you are looking for.

Donna,
I'm not Cathe, but wish I were...
just kidding,kinda...
All kidding aside, heavy breasts are a big problem when doing cardio. I don't have Asthma, though my son does, and I am an RN. I can't offer anything as to the asthma aspects but I do know you need a great, uplifting, VERY tight, holding those boulders in bra!!! I've tried skimping on lighter workout bras and I end up holding my breasts as I work out. Use a good, solid, workout, jogbra, or two, even, and it should help so much with the physical discomfort.
For the exercise induced asthma, I well let others guide you.

I end up holding my breasts

Story of my life :p

I agree. I wear 2 bras .. one regular back, and one racer back. Even with the 2 together things like jumping are very uncomfortable. I just modify to do what I can .. without giving myself black eyes }(

Good luck .. and stick with it :)

(On a personal note, I am awaiting approval from my insurance for a BR .. hope it goes through. I would love to be able to jump around without pain ... not to mention not have to special order bras!)

I also have excercise induced asthma...

I have used abuterol inhaler prior to excercise...on the last visit to my doctor...he said it is important not to just use a reactive treatment...but a preventative treatement for asthma...EVERY time you lungs are inflamed it causes scar tissue which makes you extremely prone to fibristic (sp) lungs later in life...BAD...

so...he put me on a oral inhaled steriod---side effects are non existent...and I do not wheeze at all after exercising...the oral Inhaled steriod is preventative...stops the lungs from getting inflamed...the abuterol is considered a rescue inhaler...meaning treates after the lungs are inflamed to deflame...

Talk to your doctor...especially if you are working out more than 3 times a week...that is a lot of inflamation...I never knew it until I worked with may doctor on it...he was very helpful and informed!!

Lately, I've had a real problem with my asthma flaring up during cardio. To combat this I use my albuterol inhaler before I workout. I have no problems during or after the workout once I do that.

Hi,
I also am BB, and I just recently purchased an Enell sports bra, and I can't tell you how much I love it!!! It is especially made for BB women, and it's the most supportive bra I have ever found. It is pricey but in my opinion worth every penny. HTH :)
