SUGGESTION FOR UPPER BODY VIDEOS

Cathlete
I RATHER BADLY NEED NEW UPPER BODY TAPES. I HAVE MIS,PS,S&H,BODYMAX,POWER HOUR AND CIRCUIT MAX. I ALSO HAVE GHAS AND ARMS OF STEEL WHICH I HARDLY EVER USE ANYMORE. IN THE PAST I HAVE HAD JOYCE VEDRAL AND THE FIRM WHICH ARE JUST NOT CHALLENGING ENOUGH FOR ME. I'M READY FOR SOME NEW STUFF JUST TO SHAKE THINGS UP A LITTLE. IF ANYONE HAS SOME SUGGESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE. IT IS SOOO HARD TO FIND GOOD STRENGTH TAPES AND WE ONLY HAVE ONE CATHE PUTTING THEM OUT.

If you dont already have it, I'd get CIA's Power Bar Training, I believe it's CIA 2201, but I'm not sure of the number. I do pretty much only Cathe for strength these days. I too own GHAS, a few Joyce tapes, Tamilee Webb's I Want Those Arms as well as a few others but PowerBar Training is the only strenght tape out there that gets me as sore as Cathe's. FYI...I do the tape with a barbell, I dont own a bodybar.

Kathy Smith's "Secrets of a Great Upper Body", either through her website or through Collage Video (www.collagevideo.com); great core routine with low-rep overload focus.

Also consider purchasing the CTX Upper Body compilation when Cathe rolls it out!

Anna,
Do you have a gym membership? When my videos become to easy for me, I head to the gym or increase the size of the weights I am lifting.

Body Pump & Claudia

Body Pump has a good upper body routine. You also squat 'til the cows come home, but you can skip that easily enough. The production values aren't the greatest, but the music is great and it's a decent upper body workout. Also if you can still find it, Claudia Schieffer's Arm tape is actually pretty good.

RE: Body Pump & Claudia

Thanks one and all for your suggestions. I do have the CTX series, I guess I could rewind to the end of each tape and give that a whirl

I had the Powerbar tape and Bodypump and traded them both, for some reason they just didn't work for me. I just switched gyms as I moved, and the equipment is nowhere near what I had before. It's older and geared more towards (dare I say it) male, at least for me.

Thanks.

Have you tried Mindy Mylrea's Strength Express? It's not your typical strength tape, but it offers unique exercises. I find it fun to do every so often to shake things up. She does some really different and creative things. I think her workouts are just as intense as Cathe's.

Cory's Basic Sculpting Series

I just remembered. Cory has a Basic Sculpting System series that is three tapes divided up just like the PS series. Each tape is 30 minutes long and is in EP mode so production could be better but the exercises are good. You can often find this series on the bargain video sites. I use these when I'm in a hurry 'cuz they're short.

RE: Body Pump & Claudia

If you want to try CTX upper body, you might want to get the tape. It beats FF to the end of the tape!

RE: Cory's Basic Sculpting Series

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-02 AT 11:45PM (Est)[p]I agree with JaneP on the Cory BSS tapes great value for money, I was lucky & got mine through exchange.

Right now I'm on my 2nd BSS Upper Body rotation & am very pleased with my results:)

Cory shows you 2 sets x 12 reps & suggests increasing to 3 sets - you can either pause the tape & do the extra set or write down the workout.

I don't like the warm-up so I do a Cathe warm-up, also later in the week I do an endurance workout B/Max or Powerhour.
My next rotation will be the Slow & Heavies:)

I think Cory's workouts compliment Cathe's nicely:)

RE: Tamilee Webb's I Want Those...

Arms. This is another one for good variety. It has 2 15-minute segments and you can do both. The second segment is more difficult, but only slightly. They feature 2 sets of each exercise- I haven't done this tape in a long time, but I remember they have one-arm tricep push-ups which are very interesting.

RE: Tamilee Webb's I Want Those...

I like Tamilee's series too. I would consider myself an advanced strength trainer, and I think these workouts have plenty to offer. You will have to supplement I Want Those Arms with some chest and back work though.

CTX Upper Body

As of today (August 2) you can buy a VHS copy of Cathe's CTX upper body segments. I think this will be a great compliment to Leaner Legs. I had to CTX series but sold it because I couldn't do the high impact cardio so this is wonderful news for me. I just wish you could buy the DVD separately from the set.
