Sugar Detox?

Anyone know anything about sugar detox? After totally loosing control of my diet for a while I finally got it togethr on Monday and have eaten absolutely clean all week. Yesterday I woke up with a pounding headache - maybe even a migraine because nothing would touch it and I was seeing those awesome light shows. It went away late afternoon all on it's own but I woke up with a pounding head again this am. Do you think it could be sugar detox? If so, how long would I expect it to last?

Maybe a rebound headache? My dad used to get these all the time...he'd have a busy, stressful week at work & look forward to nothing more than a weekend of leisure, then he'd get a horrendous headache. Sometimes it would take the entire weekend just to feel better! As for sugar detox...maybe. When I've been sloppy & then clean it up, I usually feel better right away, but cravings and such can still last for 2 weeks or so. Good luck & hope you feel better soon!

Maybe it's like what I went through when I detox'd from caffeine. The first time I tried to go caffeine-free, I had a nauseating, excruciating headache for about 2-3 days. It just got worse and worse. I had no idea what was causing the headache, and went out to eat with my dad on the third night. I was so nauseous that I thought I might have made a mistake by going out to eat. I decided to order a Dr. Pepper, being that I'd been "good" (no caffeine) for several days. Just one sip of Dr. Pepper and my headache was gone in less than 5 minutes!!! Wow! Anything that makes you feel that bad after not having it for a while CAN NOT be good for you! The next time I attempted to go caffeine-free, I slowly weened myself, and when I finally got to the no-caffeine stage (took about 3-4 weeks), I suffered no side effects whatsoever.

Maybe this is what happens when you drop sugar, too.

My suggestion is if you get another one of those headaches, eat some sugar and see what happens. If the headache goes away, you know that lack of sugar is causing it.

I have serious issues with headaches too. I have found they are caused either from 1) lack of caffeine or 2) having sugar.
If I give up sugar...my headaches go away. If I have sugar I get a whopping bad headache. You would think that would be enough to make me give up sugar forever...but I doubt it's gonna do it}(

Caffeine has never been a big issue for me. I'd love to say it's a health decision but I honestly just don't like the taste of coffee, coke or tea. I like capuccinos but I only sleep 3-4 hours at night if I ever have one, so I avoid them. I was getting some caffeine in chocolate - chocolate was my main source of sugar. I've always said if it's not chocolate it's not worth it. I was told there is not much caffeine in choc though - about 6% compared to a cup of coffee - is that true?

My headache went away again mid-afternoon all on it's own. It's really quite weird and I hope it doesn't creep back in overnight.

When I cut myself off from sugar, I felt very light headed and weak. This lasted about 3-4 days for me and then I didn't have any problems afterwards.
