Success using Chromecast and Android phone to do Cathe Live?

Hi,

Is anyone that is using Chromecast and an Android phone to stream Cathe live successful with this set up? Before I invest in a Chromecast device and load to TV etc, I want to make sure it is working for people.

Thanks for your input!

Can't offer much input on the Chromecast & Android, but after going back & forth several times, I finally did purchase a Chromebook which
uses the Chrome OS, and am using it with the Workout Blender and so far, it works great !!:) It plays the workouts fine and I hook the
Chromebook directly to my tv with the hdmi cable and use low quality because of my super slow internet but it does AOK. I love being able
to grab it, sign on, and make up or change a workout in a couple minutes without having to sign on to my main computer. and it was under
$200. :D

Thanks for the info. Not looking to use the On Demand function, just to stream the Live workouts.

Hoping someone that is doing it with Chromecast and a NON- Apple device will chime in here...:)

I'm using my laptop & Chromecast & it works well. I view the high quality versions of the Live broadcasts.

Thanks for the info...yes, what system are you using? Windows or IOS ( Apple product)?

Did you just connect the Chromecast thing and HDMI cables?

Hi Aqua Girl,

Do you sign on your Cathe account and/or google account to access the blender?

Cost under 200 USD does this include your chromebook?
Would you mind telling us your internet speed? Sorry to ask many question.
I am doing some homework to know the most suitable set up I need to smoothly watch on demand/live workout.

Thanks a lot for chiming in. I did post in the past asking question but did not have any reply.:)

Hi, I'll try to explain how it works. The Chromebook is chrome OS and has to be connected to internet. You just open the lid, hook
up to your wifi and away you go ! I don't have a google account as of now, I just use it as a guest. I just go to Cathe's site, sign in
to my account and go the the Blender, On Demand or Cathe Live as usual. It's just like using a regular laptop while on the internet
but I don't think there is a lot you can do with it offline, if you wanted. The harddrive isn't big at all, 16GB maybe, but there is a
SD card slot and USB drive slots so you can put other things on them and then watch on the chromebook. I think if you have a
google account, you can download apps, etc and get more uses out of it, but I wanted it for the Blender workout functions so I
haven't explored any of that.....The chromebook itself was about $160. But it's not a windows computer at all. I really like it
so far......I'm not sure my internet speed but I think it's about the slowest you can get !:) but the low quality On Demand and
blender workouts work fine and I watch Cathe Live on the low quality as well and don't usually have any problems....I still use
my ipad mini as well, and it works good too, I just wanted a different option to use, so I just go back & forth., but you can't
make up the workouts on the ipad yet.....and I can do that with the chromebook. Hope all this helps.

Thanks---Yes this does help.
What do you mean by "making up a workout". Do you mean blending your own workout
from Cathe's collection?:)

Yes, blending my own workout using the blender functions by choosing different segments from different workouts in the Blender itself.
Such fun ! To date, I have about 50...:D but think I'll wait for the new workouts to come out to make more.....but I have been going back
and changing the ones I have to suit me..... I would suggest that you either google chrome book or go to youtube and search to learn
more about it....if you are interested, that's how I learned about it.... and it helped a lot.....

I see:D LOL 50 Workout already---CREATIVITY;)
Will do further search about chrome IOS. For some reason I want to try something else than Windows
on a trial basis. I am not keen on IOS though. Both Chrome OS and Windows is what i would like to try:)

Under $ 200 is good IMO. Cost effective for those 50 workouts already blended. Do you connect
your book to internet via WIFI or ethernet cable. Sorry for going technical.
Do you find the line is stable or does the streaming freezes at any point?
Thanks again for chiming in:)

I'm running Windows 8.1. There are no cables, the Chromecast plugs into a USB port in the TV. The Chromecast app was downloaded to my laptop and appears as an icon on my toolbar. Set up only took a few minutes & requires the wifi connection. To play a workout, I log into my account, choose the workout, click on the chromecast icon, & it casts to the TV. HTH!

Thanks! I think the best bet would be to use an iPad....my Android phone doesn't pick up wifi so well...it's takes forever to load anything.

Deb there's a chrome cast iPhone app but it only has 2 stars. I don't see any written reviews for it though to know why it has such a low rating.

Sorry to belabor this topic,,,not sure why the Tutorial says How to use a Chromcast device to view Cathe Live and then proceeds to tell you to buy the Apple cables etc?
