Substition for paper plates

While working on my 1 rep max testing, I decided to try a plastic lid from an ice cream pail. I took a piece of wax paper, buffed up the side that touched the carpet (did this as a kid to make my slide slippery:)) and it worked very well. The lip around the lid helped to keep my foot slipping off. Just thought I'd share in case you don't want to use paper plates or pay for gliding discs.

Frisbee works well too

Great idea! Since I try not to keep ice cream in the house (I have no self control at all with the stuff!), I decided to try out a frisbee and it worked great! Just another option to consider. :)

Not free alternative, but cheap

I also found a good alternative at Bed Bath and Beyond. I read many of you found the "Val slides" on sale at Target, which run for about $35. Well, I found the match at BBB. They are furniture slides. They are a liitle bigger than the "val slides" but you can purchase 2 pair for $15 and if you have a coupon, you get 2 pair for $10! I think they will work better because my foot fits better on them.
They also work great for shoulder and pec strengthening while doing plank work.
