Sub for sit n stands?

Hello,
What can I sub the PS sit and stands with? And the leg press on the box moves? I lost my 14 inch rubbermaid stool and haven't
gotten around to replacing it. LOL...plus I was never fond of sit n stands to begin with. They hurt.

Not Cathe here but I feel your pain on those sit and stands. I don't use a stool for those because I caught myself cheating. I'd sit and use momentum by rocking to stand. Now I don't use anything, I just sit and imagine that chair behind me. Much tougher.

If you have a sturdy chair or table around that will work. Also you can do forward lunges instead of step ups, or just step onto a low step.

I agree with sharonm about the sit 'n' stands. Just don't sit down. You can take your squat pretty low without sitting down.

Also you can get on the floor and do bridgework with a heavy barbell (50 lbs or more) across your hips. This works the glutes and hamstrings very well.

Thanks for replying. I think I'll try those ... it's just that those sit n stands hurt my knees and my lower back a bit and makes me not want to do the workout because I dread doing them. But then that would be a waste of a pretty good leg tape! Thanks again!

If the sit-stands hurt your knees and lower back, you may want to just do regular squats here, or another lower body move that doesn't bother the knees or back. When you do these sit-stands, be sure your knees don't come out beyond your toes and hold your abs in tight to give your lower back support. Try that and if you still feel pain, you need to try another alternative. Maybe try not doing as many reps. Like Cathe always says, listen to your body.
