When Cathe talks about "interval runs" in her rotations, does she mean something like 3 min run/2 min walk?

That's what I take it to mean. Though the interval times/ratios can vary a lot. For instance, some do 2mn run/2mn walk or 3mn run/2mn walk. That's kind of how Cardio Coach intervals are, though Sean uses sprints and hills (or resistance, if using an elliptical).

I assumed the same thing. I sometimes decide my own intervals, and sometimes use a Cardio Coach workout.

I don't have any of these cardio coach things people here are always talking about. Are they better than just using a iPod?

They are waaaaayyyyy better than just an ipod! How have you missed out on CC?????

How is your running going, BTW?

The running.......well, it's going...sometimes without me I think. But I bought the Polar F4 heart rate monitor and I'm basically just trying to stay in my range. I don't know if I should push through to the higher end where I may not be burning fat calories, or just stop running when it beeps at me so I can stay in that zone. Also, I HAVE missed out on CC. I don't know what it is or how it works. I wouldn't even know where it get it.

Kim try a search for "cardio coach" and you'll find more than enough information to get you started!! :) Miss Lee (Michelle) is a big huge adoring fan. She'd love to answer any questions you have!! The website is www.cardiocoach.com

Kim - go to http://cardiocoach.com/. You can download a free workout. I didn't go in and see which one it was but that would be a great deal! You basically get workouts that are various lengths and difficulties. They include sprints and hills, and treks (fast hills). Coach Sean talks you through the workout and there is amazing music. He doesn't talk all the time. You push yourself like you cannot even imagine. You should check it out. I didn't really understand it either until I just got one...and then I got them all! I am back to being clueless now b/c I am looking into iTrains. Same sort of idea, but something is a little different and I'm trying to figure that out! There are way too many to just buy them all (iTrains). CC always seems to have a sale - he is so good about that. WHen you go into the descriptions of the workouts, you can read what they include, the duration of each part, etc. You work at perceived exertion and I use my HRM just as a check, but I love having it too. He does not give you settings or anything like that. He tells you what to do (ex - this challenge will include 3 3minute hills at a level 3 effort). That means orange zone heart rate. Sometimes he sticks a level 4 effort (red zone) in, but those are short. You have a warm up, steady state where you work in your green zone (level 2) - just an easy pace, then you have challenges but between each challenge is the steady to get your breath back, then there is the cool down and a nice stretch. They are very inspiring workouts.

Walking lunges! Aren't there also some stairs there that you were using? When I use my stepmill and there are hills on CC, I take the steps 2X2. When I have used it on an outdoor walk, I did walking lunges with a little balance challenge in between each lunge where I would lunge, stand on one leg and bring the other up and out (so a 90 degree bend at the knees and straighten leg, back then back to 90) and then that leg would lead the next lunge. Does that make any sense at all?? It is a quick little move but controlled.

Wow...you're tough! :D I do use the stadium sometimes still. I really need to check into CC. It sounds pretty interesting. Although, there is a girl that "runs" with me and since I bought the HR monitor and take my iPod, I've tried to get her to go at her own pace and not feel like she has to stay with me. It's not working. I don't want to be mean and I don't totally mind her being there because when we go during the week, it's still dark out and I don't really want to be there alone. HOWEVER, I don't feel like having to make conversation when I'm trying to concentrate on HR and my own individual work out. I also want to listen to music and not take the ear peice out everytime I stop running to talk. Any suggestions?
